There is nothing bad I can say about this gem! It was my 50th birthday we ventured into this hidden jem on my birthday afternoon just for a couple of pints. The decor is lovely very shabby chic, but what most stood out, was the extremely friendly bar person called Hannah, such a lovely person very friendly and chatty I told her it was my birthday she wished me a happy day We also had a good chat, she gave us the menu to have a look at because I didn't know where I was going to be going for dinner for my birthday, I have to say I have not seen a menu so varied, the descriptions of the foods that were on the menu looked so good I really felt like I needed to try this so we booked for my 50th birthday meal at the crossing. On arrival the lovely Kira as if we booked to which we replied we had she found us our table and then brought us I complimentary bottle of prosecco with strawberries! So yes I'm already sold because well.... Free alcohol and who doesn't love prosecco and strawberries come on! I ordered the hanging chicken kebab with the pork chips bucket my husband ordered the fish finger sandwich which is no ordinary fish finger sandwich I must say, and the fire cracker chip bucket. I was absolutely blown away when she bought the meals to us, presentation was absolutely amazing, I had a plate full of salad with slaw, and hanging above it was this gorgeous looking charcoal grilled chicken kebab! I have to say I have never had anything that tasted so good other than at this place! I don't usually actually leave reviews, when places are mediocre, but this place just completely blew me away! The food is amazing the staff are polite, easy going friendly, just can't do enough for you. My husband described his meal as outstanding! As a fish finger sandwich goes this was the most posh I'd ever seen! We also had a cocktail which were equally amazing such a lovely taste. From start to finish the experience of this lovely pub was a tantalising taste bud tickling wonderful gem of a place which I would highly recommend to anybody in the area to try. You will not be disappointed! Well done the crossing You deserve 10 stars not 5. Best wishes from Helen....
Read moreNot a good experience at all. This was my first visit. I managed to make contact with an old friend who lived in the area and rather unfortunately picked the crossing to meet up for a drink. I drove there from Loughborough, parked in their car park and went in to meet my old friend. We stumbled upon a quiz night of which consisted of around 4 people in the entire establishment. I ordered a couple of drinks and started reminiscing with my old friend. I then went to purchase my second round and found no staff at the bar. A gentleman walked up to me who I think was the manager and said. Don't worry she will be out in a minute. 20 minutes the bar was unattended. We decided to give up and move on. Nearly 3 weeks later I received a letter from a private parking firm asking for 175 pounds for parking in the crossing carpark. So I called the Crossing and spoke with a lady called indiana. I explained I was there in the pub that evening. She then rudely accused me of parking in the car park and then buggering off into town. I argued the point I was there. And described the quiz night and the unattended bar. And also mentioned I failed to see any sign to register my car. She relented and said she will sort it out. I then received a voicemail from her saying the parking charge is too old and I will still have to pay it. Whatever you do, Do not visit this place. There is a real uncomfortable bad vibe about it. And as long as there is breath I'm no body. I will not pay their car...
Read moreEdit may 2022...I'm afraid I'm downgrading to a 2 star. We reserved a table for 4 people. Showed to our seats and they took our drinks order straight away which is good. Food order was taken not long after that. That's about the last good thing. The table was only half set with forks missing on our table , and others as I looked round. Knives yes, forks no. The food took a hell of a long time to come considering we were the only table that was occupied. The roast chicken was lovely aside from the roast potatoes were burnt and inedible. The yorkshire pudding was homemade and lovely. Other diners with me said the roast beef was overcooked to. The pizza that my other diner had he said was lovely. We were really looking forward to a Sunday dinner. It was the service that was awful. They came to collect the plates and only took half and never came back for the rest and our glasses weren't cleared away. We had 4 rounds worth of glasses on the table, 3 lots empty as we were eating our meal. Definitely won't go back again.
Been here 3 or 4 times for food. And I must admit the past couple of times I've been I haven't really enjoyed the food. First time I went it was fantastic. Just the last roast dinner I had there was disappointing. Staff are a bit slow on the uptake. Seems to take them forever to come round to you even when the place...
