We came to this restaurant during a short stay in Felixstowe, it was one of the very few restaurants open on a Monday.
We started with some drinks, along with complimentary bread... We'd ordered the hot starter for two which was excellent, as was the accompanying hummus we had gotten as extra.
Our main was a shared special for two, which was delectable. The food was full of flavour. Everything was cooked perfectly, and I'd highly suggest a side of sauteed potatoes, amazing!
Dessert was good, but I feel homemade desserts would be better, although tasty, the desserts we had were clearly the same type of ones you see at many restaurants, especially Indian and Turkish ones... I can only presume these are mass produced. Obviously we only tried two deserts, the heaven in a jar and the chocolate pudding. Still good, but really need to be homemade. ... Maybe the baklava and other real Turkish desserts are? Would need to ask the restaurant.
Thought the food was the only highlight? The staff were attentive and helpful at all times, they seemed happy to serve. There was a new girl at the time of us going, her first day I believe? Yet seemed natural to the job. Drinks were mixed to perfection with a good deal of alcohol for a double, a real double, no skimping here.
This was a great experience, and will be going again when we visit...
Read moreI have been wanting to go here for a couple of months so when it was chosen as a venue for our monthly dinner club, I was delighted to be able to attend. It was just as well that there were fourteen of us because, apart from us there were only a couple of other tables in use and a few takeaways. First impressions are always important and mine were not good. The two waiting staff were chatting away behind the bar and made no attempt to make me feel welcome. Nor did they offer a drink until the rest of the table arrived some fifteen minutes later. We'd been asked to pre-order to aid the kitchen. My choice was a Sigara Borek, filo pastry filled with feta cheese. Disappointingly bland really and, at £6.95, pricey I felt. The main course - Incik - was a lamb shank and, at £19.95, it was tasty enough with the plentiful meat falling off the bone, but it really wasn't very hot. The very small portion of chips were overcooked and also lukewarm. The best bit of the meal was the very nice Turkish bread and Cacik, the Turkish equivalent of Tzatziki. Other folk have raved about the Anatolia, but I'm afraid I left feeling distinctly...
Read moreWhen you find a really good restaurant, keep going back and often having the same dishes, you sometimes forget to tell other people about how good that restaurant is. Anatolia is just such a restaurant. It is important to book as, with all good restaurants, they can get busy, sometimes with groups. Another important thing to know about this emporium of good food is that it's NOT a fast food outlet. You order your choice from an extensive menu and the food is cooked freshly for you while you enjoy a glass of Efes (Turkish beer) and some meze. Our favourite dish is their Lamb Guvec, a delicious casserole of diced lamb and vegitables in a great gravy and served with a lovely fresh salad plus a choice of rice, chips or bulgar (similar to Couscous). We have never yet had enough room for a desert but I am sure they are as good as the other courses served in this lovely restaurant that brings the best of Turkish Cuisine to Felixstowe. They also do a Take...
