I last went here a fair few years ago, back then it was nothing special, all dishes tasted the same and were a bit bland, I put off going there again because of that, but now though, although I think some dishes are well overpriced, like the naga one I had, at almost £13 it was double what similar dishes are, and it wasn't very spicy either.
However, it was all cooked very well, and did indeed taste of naga, the chicken was bordering on the dry overcooked side, but it still had flavour to it, the garlic rice was spot on for flavour, not too strong or too weak, the portion could have been a bit bigger, and the Tarka Daal was a bit too runny and could have done with a bit more garlic.
I did feel a bit hassled with someone coming over every few minutes to see if there's anything else we would like, pushing for more drinks, and that's not an over statement, we must have been asked at least 10 times by different people while trying to eat our meals and socialise, if it wasn't for that hassle I would have marked the service higher, in general it was very good, but their system needs to be better to ensure customers don't feel hassled, more than 10 times is a bit much, unless that's their plan for upselling? if it is, it backfired with me.
The bhajis and naan were nice and light, and were cooked spot on.
In general I would say the rest of the food quality was hit and miss, and should have been better for the price, although the flavour was good in a couple of things, I've had better elsewhere at a much cheaper price, and...
Read moreFirst of all very nice , clean restaurant with good friendly staff and a nice atmosphere to the place, that made for a good evening. We all opted in for the all you can eat buffet option which may sound weird but everything is made to order and fresh.
We ordered a vast amount of mixed starters and the chicken Puri , chicken pakora and the Indian cheese dish was my highlights of the starters , though the other starters was also nice but the above 3 was definitely my favourites.
Main course I went for the lamb bhauna , rice and pashwari naan bread. This was average . It lacked a deeper flavour and was on the bland side of things . Not horrible but definitely lacking in something. I tried some of the other mains and found them better but no main dish wowed me tbh which was alittle disappointing after really good starters. Also I would suggest getting more quality into the naan breads specially the peshwari , get some sultanas in there and drizzle some maple glaze on there.
The real shocker for me is the recent change in serving alcohol. Now I get some places let you bring your own which is cool but this place is a dry restaurant, that just don't make sense and is made worse by the fact they are charging £8/9 for cocktails that don't have alcohol on them and for me that takes the piss a little bit and is why I rate this as a 4 star for that type of stance but I understand it's out of the hands of the workers.
I enjoyed my meal but just...
Read moreIn short, well worth a visit if you like this style of food! We were staying in the area & had pre-booked a table at Blue Naan as it rated highly. We were not disappointed!. From the street you are immediately welcomed by the modern and clean styling of this restaurant from the street. It is worth mentioning early on that no alcoholic drinks are served here (nothing more than 0.5%ABV) but the mix of soft drinks, excellent mocktails, low alcohol beers & wines etc (‘Nosecco’ anyone?) should keep most happy and are well worth trying (I really enjoyed the ‘Blue Nagoon’ especially!). The staff were very welcoming and more than happy to answer questions on the dishes. The menu was extremely varied, with plenty of the curry favourites as well as many VERY original dishes, with many in a fusion style. There was also a specials board. Even the sides had options I had not encountered before (loved the rice with pineapple & cashews!).
If you can eventually decide from the options, you should find the food perfectly flavoured and cooked. Our meal included prawns and lamb which were cooked to perfection … succulent and very moreish. The only let down was the desserts which were just the usual pre-made selection you get in many establishments. Would happily return back here for a meal or a takeaway. If we’d have visited earlier in our trip we’d have most likely returned a couple of days later....
