Extremely Disappointing Experience at Asda Lowestoft Café & Store
Date of Visit: 9 August 2025
I am currently on holiday in Lowestoft and visited the Asda café this morning (around 10:15) with my family, hoping to enjoy a nice breakfast. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing due to the attitude and behaviour of the staff.
At the café, the team was highly unwelcoming and outright rude. Several items we politely requested were met with blunt refusals, without any courtesy or explanation. The tone of their responses made us feel like we were a burden rather than valued customers.
Frustrated, we decided to skip the café and instead buy items from the store to make breakfast ourselves. While shopping, we picked up frozen salmon packs from an area where the sign clearly stated “Mix any three for £9.97.” At the till, we mentioned this offer, but the system did not apply it.
The staff member called over to assist was, once again, unnecessarily rude. I even told her it was fine if the offer didn’t apply and that I’d take something else instead. However, she insisted on walking me back to the aisle, where the signage indeed displayed the “Mix any three for £9.97” deal. She then curtly stated it was for the lower racks only, not the section where I had picked my items.
Even though it was clear the signage could easily cause confusion, she offered no polite clarification or apology — just an abrupt dismissal. I did not want to argue, but the entire interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.
Overall, this was a very disappointing morning. As a visitor to the area, this experience has left a negative impression of both the café and the store. Courtesy costs nothing, and a little politeness could have completely changed the tone...
