Upon visiting the establishment, I opted for the triple pancake accompanied by eggs and maple syrup, a selection not featured on their online menu but present in the offerings of their Eastbourne location, which I found noteworthy. However, I observed that the pancake exhibited a dry texture despite the addition of maple syrup, suggesting a possible inadequacy in the syrup portion. Typically, establishments I frequent are more generous with their maple syrup portions and often provide it separately, affording patrons the opportunity to personalize their serving to taste. My dining companion selected The Garden Plate, which she found to be satisfactory in taste. Both of us indulged in the Golden Latte, which boasted an appealing presentation. Regrettably, the presence of turmeric was rather pronounced, exceeding even the preferences of someone accustomed to Indian cuisine. In my estimation, the turmeric overpowered the drink, detracting from its overall enjoyment. Can certainly make a flavourful one at home.

We visited Bills a few weeks ago and I meant to write a review, not really for the food, although that was very nice, but for the service we received. We were met by Aga, who was lovely, very helpful but above all she was so happy. To be fair all the staff we met were friendly and polite but it was Aga who stood out for her bubbly personality and friendly demeanor. We returned today for breakfast (also very nice see photos), we were greeted by Aga as if we were long lost friends, she even remembered the previous conversation we had had. I really think that other restaurants/cafés could learn a lot from Bills, hospitality is a tough industry to be in and sadly this is sometimes reflected in the service you get, so it is really refreshing to go to Bills and experience such a warm and friendly welcome from all of the staff. Ps photos are of Bills Big Brunch and The Garden plate (minus eggs & beans but with bacon!) both very scummy & filled us up for the day!!

It’s been a while since we visited Bills. So a few things to share. The place wasn’t very busy but the team seem to have strict rules on table availability. Saw a few people get turned away and there was lots of tables free. Some just walked after not being served at all. Staffing seemed to be the issue. The food is nice and plenty but quite expensive compared to other local restaurants offering similar dishes. I always tip good service however I do not like it when restaurants automatically add service charge, especially when you have to ask if you can order your food after waiting or again left to ask for the bill. The tip is because the service is great not because you are being brought your food. I’m already paying for that. We had three waiters 🙄 Overall not bad, nice food, but the lack of staff and waiting let’s it down. Need to think less on the margins and more on the experiences if you want to force a service charge.

We went in to Bill's in late November after many years! I don't think we enjoyed our first and last visit all those years ago, but this visit was an entirely different experience!

Firstly the atmosphere was so much more relaxing and welcoming, and Chloe our server that afternoon was a true delight. She was friendly and very helpful, we felt very looked after with all the weight taken off our shoulders! We were having a really tough day, and it's just the haven we needed!

We opted for the bottomless pancakes, which looked and smelled delicious on arrival. The bottomless hot drinks were also most welcome! I had the pancakes with fruit, my husband the biscoff ones. They were really enjoyable, with plenty of maple syrup provided to pour out to our taste.

We could barely get to the end of the five pancakes, they were so filling. So the challenge to have a second round beat us!! But it's a very generous offering and a lot of fun! The only thing I'd say is that the pancakes do get a bit dry to eat by the time you get through them. But that's a minor complaint.

If you're not ordering the bottomless pancakes but the brunch ones you might be better off going for 3, rather than 5. They're...

Sydney welcomed us, gave us a choice of seats and presented our menus. We were treated to a free bottle of Prosecco as my wife had a voucher for her birthday and this was brought to our table in an ice bucket promptly, getting lunch off to a great start.

We haven’t been to Bill’s for a while and do the lunch menu had changed a bit. My wife had already chosen what she knew I would like and I have to say, the Duck Curry was absolutely superb. A stunning array of flavours beautifully presented on a platter. I think this might be the best thing I’ve ever had at a Bill’s restaurant, and the bar was already set high ! The chef who dreamed up this delight is a genius !

Anyway, Sydney continued with her excellent service throughout, even on our departure with a friendly goodbye.

The restaurant was clean and well presented, even the toilets. And a nice atmosphere too. It’s nice to go somewhere where conversation isn’t drowned out by over-loud music !

I look forward to further visits through the year, and I’ll definitely be having another serving of that...
