I went into this chippy to buy 2 cans of coke and as I walked across their anti slip mats they actually gave way nearly sending me flying on my back and all the ignorant woman behind the counter could do was laugh but considering I’m disabled with an injured knee this was anything but funny. I then told the woman I slipped and that it was dangerous and she blanked me. I then asked if she understood what I was saying and she replied clear as day “yes” which infuriated me even more. A man cooking the food then piped up and explained that the floor is even more slippery without the mat yet the mat is still very dangerous but they just didn’t care and to add insult to injury they had the audacity to try and charge me £4 for 2 cans of coke which I refused to pay. That was my first encounter with a local business upon arriving in Eastbourne and it was a dreadful experience! I hope they go out of business and a company more deserving of that prime...

Very poor. Eastbourne Airshow was bound to attract many visitors, but this place was entirely unprepared. The queue was long and very slow moving. They didn't accept payment via anything but cash (that's the only reason the queue moved at all! When customers were told "cash only", they left).

30 minutes later, we get to second-to-the-front of the queue, to be told, no new orders for now. This was because there was a massive backlog of customers who had ordered, but not received their food. Even for a simple order such as one bag of chips, we would have had to have waited for it to be processed. No doubt another 30 minutes. So we gave up. But plenty of chips for those staff taking a break and a nibble.

So unless you're looking to entertain yourselves for well over an hour whilst you order some classic "fast" food, forget this place! Crazy operation run...

Well I never thought that I'd fear getting food poisoning from chips but I did when I ate some. I mean, I didn't want to waste any at a fairly steep price for what was served. I was going to warn people but then forgot and got on with my eve until this morning when I had, let's just say, a rare poorly tummy. There was something VERY wrong with the chips. I'm no expert as don't live on the coast and rarely eat takeaway so this was meant to be a special treat. However, whenever I've visited any coastline, it's something to look forward to. Not this time. Don't do it. Not to mention the hideous wait. Only one poor chap doing everything himself. One star was for him, he was friendly and one is for the location as the pier is beautiful. Maybe shop inland. I have to feel strongly about something to leave such a poor...

I was lucky enough to find that place yesterday when everything else around was dead shut. And I can easily admit I found nothing cheap about this chippy (well except great value indeed!). Fish was super fresh and tasty, not oily at all and with some glorious aroma (coconut oil???). Chips were nice and crispy too and everything arrived sprinklered with aromatic parsley seasoning. All together one of the best fish&chips experience in my life, I kid you not! Even the box with a customised sticker on it was a nice change and added to the overall value. Keep it up good work boys, well done! Cant wait to pop in there with my friends next time I am in Eastbourne. Thanks!!!

What a treat! Vegan 'fish' and chips in Eastbourne! My wife and I loved the quality of the chips, all warm, fluffy and crispy. As for the vegan 'fish' this was the best we've tasted. I think it was battered banana blossom. The only slight issue was that the person taking the order was unsure about the BBQ jackfruit and forgot our vegan tartare sauce order. Annoyingly I didn't realise until I was back at the car. These was little things though and The Chippy is now the only place we will be going to for our 'fish' and chips, and we will certainly be returning again and again and again! Thank you The Chippy for embracing veganism.

The chips were very old even after frying they were awful. The fish was not fresh, dry inside. The service was not very nice, I asked the lady to clean the table and she did it with great pain. When I told her about the chips not being good she started laughing with her colleagues. The chips and fish were awful, as if they had been reheated and the potatoes for the chips I think had been reheated a few times. Inside the tables were dirty and there was food scattered on the floor. The prices for drinks were phenomenal, £2 for a can of Coke. I do not recommend eating there, sorry 😞
