A shame I can’t give it zero stars. What an appalling place to be. Myself and my family have just left here today on Boxing Day a day which is supposed to be magical and stress free. Well let’s just say that did not happen. Firstly we asked to pre order our Christmas lunches as there was 12 of us a couple of weeks ago to be told not to worry as nothing will run out of the roasts like they did last year as they are fully prepared. Great. We thought. I then told my dad to ring back and just double check that this would still be ok. He was told sir it will be fine. We also have email confirmation of this too. We then arrive today and get given the a la Carte menu. Not a problem if it was any other day but seeing as we were told it was a Christmas menu we were a bit miffed. I then asked for the Christmas menu to be told that this is not a special day and that the normal menu will be served. We then asked to speak to the manager who was equally as rude and sarcastic and unhelpful. We were treated with no respect and they didn’t care. We even had a massive deposit down for the Christmas menu to be told that that doesn’t matter. To say we were upset is an understatement. We then got our food. One hour after we ordered. Everything was cold and disgusting. So we then asked for the bill bearing in mind the so called manager at this point has come to my father and shoved an email correspondence with a complete stranger taking about the normal menu for Boxing Day to which we said this isn’t even ours. So we have had all that to deal with so I’ve said to him with the bill we expect some discount and apology. He then comes over with the bill and told us he has taken the drinks off the bill. The hilarious thing about this though was that we had already paid for most of our drinks at the bar so therefore only had a bottle of house wine taken off. We were also given vouchers where you had to buy more food and get a free glass. This is after we have told him we will never be coming back. The staff serving us were caught on several occasions laughing and pointing at our table to their co workers by myself and my family. Also I had an 89 year old great auntie who was getting very upset and confused as to why we weren’t getting what we ordered and she was really really hungry as the food was taking so long. We ate here the other night after reading all the wonderful reviews. I paid £15 plus a service charge for quite possibly the worst burger I have ever had. Over cooked, TINY, thin patties. Stale bread. Husband paid £15 for the fish and chips.... again, very little fish, mostly just fried. Extremely disappointing. Tried to find someone to tell, but service was few and far between. Had to go home and eat another meal. Sadly, will not be back.

I think that your response is passive aggressive and rude. As stated we had the fish and chips, not the sea bass, but I think you are so defensive about a review that you didn't take the time to read it properly.

You make it out that I am lying about an experience I had at your pub. That I apparently didn't know the quality that I was eating. I can assure you... I knew the quality and it wasn't good that's why I attached a picture. Sometimes there are issues. It happens. I had read all about the "juicy burgers" and that is why I was shocked with what I got... But to be honest, I am more shocked by your response. All it would have taken was you taking the feedback on board and saying you would look into it...(even if you didn't I would never know) instead, you wrote paragraphs in response about how I was mistaken and inferring that I must be delusional. Last minute booking made here. Greated and sat quickly! Food sadly was not the best. We had the roasts - pork, chicken, and beef. Pork was the best out of the three but quite fatty and not overly flavorful. The beef was very chewy! The chicken was undercooked, and there was no way it was roasted. Roasted chicken is golden and crispy skin on the outsid. This chicken was white and looked under cooked, this was mentioned as soon as it arrived at our table. Sly comment made by our waiter commenting on if we survived eating the chicken halfway through the meal, not really appreciated.All 3 meats came with only 2-3 roast potatoes, not enough! The yorkshire was lovely! All 3meats came with the same underwhelming jelly like gravy. Everyones meal was warm, not hot. Complained about the raw chicken once it was spotted and the manager (i think he was) tried to explain that it was normal to have red veins in the chicken but the meat itself was slightly pink and felt undercooked when chewed. He wasn't the nicest about our complaint but did agree to not charge, which was appreciated. Our waiter was cheeky but nice.
