After yet another great Sunday lunch at the Abbey, I felt my original review, "I love this boozer! Great ale, great staff, great pub quiz!", doesn't do this place the justice it deserves so felt the need to update it... The staff are always warm and welcoming here and if you're a "real ale" officionardo, you won't be disappointed. The guest beers change on a very regular basis and offer the very best from the craft beer industry. There's always something new and interesting to try. The same can be said if you're a gin lover. The food is top-notch too. From pies to pasta, steaks to roast dinners, there's something for everyone. Service is fast and faultless and they offer top-ups of yorkshire puds and roasties which is heaven. Current star of the show for me though is the bread & butter pudding fingers (pictured) which are out of this world. No better way to finish a meal and roll out the door happy. All that said, I stand by my original review: I love this boozer! Great ale, great staff, great pub quiz!

Well worth a visit and definitely coming back. It’s fair to guess that The Abbey had a bit of work done during COVID but what a fantastic job the did! The tables outside are all set up like small individual rooms. There’s a TV in each one, perfect for watching the game! There’s a heater in each one so the weather is irrelevant as they’re covered too. The menu is on a QR code which makes ordering direct to the table easy. + You get to add an extra free side of awesome roast potatoes if you get through the first lot! Overall, lovely place, friendly staff. Great job guys. 🤙

Popped in for a bite to eat after being at a baby reveal. Haven’t been here since before lockdown I must admit the staff and service very professional. The menu is amazing with an excellent variety of dishes catering for all people. We ordered our starters came fantastic couldn’t fault, very polite table service then onto the main I had the pork belly and beef burger wow what a dish. Made sure I left room for the desert bread and butter fingers so glad these are still on the menu.

Visited the Abbey today for my daughters 18th meal around 1pm, we spent around £150. The food was great and all cooked to a good standard and there was a good choice of guest ales. However one staff member left a bitter taste in our mouth. A blonde lady who appeared in charge was very rude, abrupt and confrontational throughout our visit. She accused a member of our party for underage drinking and was quite rude about it too infrint of other customers. Once the meal was over I went to collect my £10 deposit and the same lady came over saying she doesn't have to give me the money back as amember of the party was breaking terms and conditions she kept going on really loudly infront of other customers and other tables were looking and listening which was embarrassing. When I asked her to not make a scene she replied 'right your not having your money back then' I told her that she was very unprofessional and has disgusting customer service. I left the pub immediately and it took the shine off what was a celebration. I been going there with family since I was young and lives locally. Very sad how people like this run such lovely places. Reluctant to return.

The response below from the General Manager below makes me laugh. He was not there and its another case of a manager protecting their team even when in the wrong. They have given him a pack of lies to cover their own backs it seems. No class and very sad... Only gave 2* because food was actually good unlike our experience. I'm a local lad, been going since a child and 39 now, had family Christmas day lunch, my dads 60th, other daughter 21st and literally spent hundreds on other occasions. Can't believe how I was treated and I will be warning others. After being completely embarrassed by the foul member of staff I told her to do one, but stress how she had escalated the situation. Banned for telling the truth and giving honest review. Oh well, plenty of other...

I used to come here a few years ago and it was a great pub back then. However, yesterday I came with my daughter and friend and found it to be unclean with sticky tables, staff were not helpful or friendly. The food, well, compared to other pubs it's the most expensive I've been to lately will little choice of normal pub meals, and burgers were around £15. I ordered a burger which comes with a choice of fries. The usual French fries were out of stock, so were the sweet potato ones, so there was only chunky chips. I ordered fries as a side to another meal and had to pay extra due to there only being choice of one, and when the food did come, it was lukewarm and the burger itself was burnt and dry, like it had all been cooked half an hour before and out under a heat lamp. The waitress shoved them down on the table and walked off. We had no cutlery, so I had to go and find her to ask were it was, no apology, just an over at the door in trays. Dogs are allowed at the outside table, one of which jumped straight up at my friend because the owner wasn't watching it, scaring her. I would not recommend. Expensive, unfriendly, food overpriced and not particularly edible, noisy garden with dogs who wander up to customers tables, glasses weren't clean and neither were the tables. Parking was also an issue with people taking up 2 spaces due to narrowness of the spaces. I will not visit again unless the company and staff change. Not even...

We reserved the table we normally use 2 weeks in advance when attending the quiz. we checked by phone on the Monday and Wednesday that it was available and were told it was. When we arrived we were told we couldn't have our table and couldnt reserve a particular table but the table we normally have was reserved for someone else who had booked it a week after we had booked. Even though you can't book a particular table ?????. I have MND at am wheelchair bound. The rest of the staff are normally very accommodating due to the difficulty in accessing some tables. There wasn't another table reserved. Eventually this was resolved. We had our meal which wasn't great. There was then problems with another quiz team with the same problem as ours .We were then confronted by a member of staff very rudely and humiliatingly in front of our guests who had joined us. We were accused of writing a bad review, which (then) we had not. We were rudely told we are barred. If we had been taken to one side and discussed things that would have been fine. To shout at us in the middle of a busy pub is totally unacceptable. We have witnesses on ours and the next table that we hadnt said anything to warrant such a viscious outburst. Such a shame as we all enjoy taking part in the quiz. A local landlord has kindly invited us and other teams to...
