I was in the area for a work trip and was craving a curry and grilled meat and came across this place. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst decisions. The starter I ordered made no sense it was like remains of someone elses food all thrown together, and everything was overcooked and lacked flavour. I thought let's order a curry as the chefs might be better as this. I ordered the signature lamb chop curr, and once I received i, I was shocked to find it swimming in a bed of oil. The chops were overcooked and almost as if they were old. The sauce lacked any flavou, and I ended up leaving about 80% of a £60 meal. I legit would find more flavour in a microwave curry. I provided my feedback to the manager who was very friendly and agreed to discount my bill. My feedback would be don't tone down the spices and flavours due to Western customers. Instead, celebrate what makes this food sing!

The food here was really nice, I especially liked the hariali. Peshwari naan was nice but could have had more filling and portion sizes were small, the rice was very small for £4.50, not really enough for 2 people. The staff weren't very friendly and the coke was totally flat so deducting a star for that. My starter plate wasn't clean which is why I didn't bother with poppadoms or a starter, the food hygiene rating is only a 4 also. I'd probably still go back though as the food was decent and there's not that much choice for Indian food in Durham.

Situated at the top of North Rd you're virtually leaving town centre so can be a bit of a walk depending on where you started your night but close to bus station. Great variety of food good prices and attentive staff. 9 of us enjoyed our meal and while service is always slower when you're in a big party we didn't feel that we were waiting too long

Went in November & couldn't fault it. Lovely food, good service, excellent menu. Went for our second visit last night with husband & 2 daughters. We'd booked a table for 7pm & arrived on time. Restaurant wasn't particularly busy then, but was beginning to fill up. We were shown straight to our table, given menus, & our drinks order was taken soon after. We then chose our meals & waited for our food order to be taken. And waited. And waited. And waited. Loads of other diners who came in later were shown to their tables, their orders taken, & their food started being served. Husband said he'd wait til 7.30pm, then he was leaving. At 7.28pm our order was finally taken! We ordered mains & asked for poppadoms to start. Once again, we waited, & waited & waited, watching other diners being served all the time. One couple who'd come in after us actually finished before our food came! Finally the waiter came with some of our main course food. Husband told him to take it back as we'd not even had poppadoms yet. He did, but still took another good 5 minutes or more to come out with the poppadoms, upon which, my husband had had enough, & said we were leaving, which we did. Wouldn't've minded the long wait nearly so much if it was because they were busy. It was the fact that we were ignored & overlooked while everybody else who came in after us was being served. Terrible service, & we won't be going back, which is a great shame as the other time we went it was so good I'd've given it 5 stars. Very disappointed, especially our daughters, one of whom had specifically asked for us to go to...

So we were a group of over 20. Prior to booking, we were asked to pre-order our food; promised 10% student discount; and told that minimum we can pay by card is £10.

When the last person sits down, food started gushing out, not too sure food wasn't pre-cooked. Food was good but small portions.

The issues arose when we went to pay. The discount disappeared because apparently it was only valid if one pays by cash. When some of us wanted to pay by cash, they said it is quite a hassle to give discounts on some meals and not on others. We were all students with student card, so very easy solution: 10% discount on all the bill?! But NO... their solution was: no discount to all.

Then we were asked to pay individually. Here comes another issue. The prices on the website are DIFFERENT from the menu prices in the restaurant. Thus, not only we didn't get the discount, we had to pay more than we budgeted since the prices mismatch. For example on the website, the Chicken Roshuni is £8.95, while I was asked to pay 10.95. Onion Pilau market 3.95 but I was asked to bay 4.50. Extremely dissatisfied. When I told the manager of my complaint, his answer was: policy. What policy is to daylight robbery?

In sum: avoid this restaurant at all costs. Manager extremely unpolite - staff are nice. Food marketed at a price and sold at another. Student discount is at the manager's...

I went with my friends. Seven of us visited this restaurant. For most of us, this was our first Indian meal out in Durham. The location of the restaurant is good and convenient. It is located in the heart of Durham. It is very close to Durham railway station and Durham bus station. The menu of the restaurant has provided us a lot of options, encouraging us to try something different. After discussing with each other and consulting the staff there, we had ordered from starters to main courses, including duck, lamb, chicken and prawn (see pictures). All of the food presented well and just the right amount. And all food is excellent and good taste. Particularly for lamb shank, it is very nice and tasty; not very spicy. My friends and I love this course. Also, Galic Naan is our favourite food. So, lamb shank and Galic Naan are strongly recommended to you. Very tasty and excellent value. For our seven people, we have only spent £96.9, each person £13.80. We were all satisfied. The staff was very friendly and very attentive to our needs. Plus, very nice atmosphere. We extremely enjoyed our evening here. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant. Definitely, we will be back. Noticing that the opening time of this restaurant opens at 5:30PM, from Monday to Sunday. It is ideal place for family celebration and a...
