The pub seems nice enough at first glance and there is a reasonable selection of beer and wine. My problem came when trying to order food. Not being particularly hungry I though a few chicken nuggets from the kids menu would be perfect; however, apparently there's a strict rule that you have to have a child in your party to be able to order from the kids menu! This seemed totally ridiculous as there was no option to order nuggets on the 'adult' menu and had the pub been busier I dare say the owner wouldn't have even noticed. So rather than serve me, the pub lost not only the business from my meal, but also all the subsequent drinks our party bought in the Market Tavern instead. As the pub wasn't almost empty at the time, this seems a somewhat sort sighted decision by the owner.

Tough to review, because they have a great beer selection with at least four cask on as well as many keg and a full fridge with cans and bottles. Bit frustrated on last visit, as had booked a table in advance but on arrival none had been reserved, the app would not work for ordering and then at least half the menu was off (was not advised of this in advance either) so had to go elsewhere to eat anyway. It does have a LOT of vegan options (around 50% of menu) if that is your bag, sadly for me nearly all the meat options were unavailable. I have eaten here once before and the food was nice then. Just a quick edit - other readers may have noticed the venue asked me to e-mail them, I did so shortly after (several months ago now) and they never replied. 🤦🏼♂️

I recently visited this pub in Durham, and unfortunately, it was a poor experience. While the pub itself had a nice atmosphere and seemed quite popular given how busy it was, the food and service were disappointing. I ordered a cheeseburger and chips, but the quality was subpar, especially for the high price. Additionally, the soft drinks were completely flat, which was another letdown. To make matters worse, the ladies' toilets were out of toilet paper, which added to the overall frustration. For the amount of money spent, I expected much better. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it.

Being from South Yorkshire the Head of Steam in Sheffield is always on our Saturday afternoon route, this one in my opinion is better. The range of beer is extensive so plenty to choose from, we had a couple of pints of stout each which were lovely. The inside decor and seating I thought was very good, everything seemed laid back and relaxed. The guy we were chatting to I think maybe was the manager was very friendly and a credit to the company. We could have easily stopped all night but wanted to try other pubs. Highly recommended.
