It is probably more 3 and a half stars than 3 but 1) it took an awfully long time to get served and whilst queuing to order the staff were constantly asking you to move so they could get to the back of the counter. It was very crowded and impossible to get to see what cakes were being offered. 2) Someone please tell me why some cafes feel the need to put chocolate on everything?!! Chocolate on a coffee cake? Or salted caramel??? Why??? I have an intolerance to chocolate which makes me very ill - there are actually quite a lot of us out there with this! Once again I was reduced to Victoria Sponge 🥱 3) outdoor seating needs painting/cleaning/replacing. It was all a little bit tatty 4) some of the staff really were not the friendliest. I'm sorry and I know you were all busy and it was a hot day, but really? 5) Food and hygiene score is only a 3. 6) cash only - stopped us from having anything more than coffee and cake. Most people these days put everything on card. We had a late lunch at a different place. Having said that, if you can eat chocolate, there is a good choice of cake; the outside area is quite large so, as dogs are not allowed indoors, it's a good choice for dog owners; my partner said that his cake was good and he enjoyed his coffee; the cakes we had were a good Yorkshire portion; reasonable prices.

This hidden gem deserves a visit if you are in Filey. Delicious home made cakes. I had myself a spectacular vanilla slice homemade as if it was made by Mary Berry. We also had a very generous portion cheese jacket potato. The place is spotless clean, specially the toilets (something very difficult to find these days). The ladies are very friendly and helpful. Certainly I will visit them again on my next holiday around. The only down is an "only cash venue", we could have eaten more if we had more cash with us.

Visited quite a few times over the years always for coffee and cake and have never been disappointed in the service, drinks or food. On this visit we had two lattes and homemade cakes. Coffee was hot just how I like it, cafes often make coffee just warm. The cakes are homemade by family members and are a good size, I’ve had vanilla slices, Manchester tart and scones in the past and all very nice. Shame they close for the winter soon. We are booked in to try their afternoon tea on Friday.

Have enjoyed vanillas and tea on two occasions here but they go fast so get there early! Today I and my two companions were disappointed in our choices. Scones with clotted cream and jam. The scones were extremely small and dry and at £3.50 not value for money or enjoyable. Mentioned this to staff and received a curt reply "that's the way they come" . Toasted cheese and onion sandwich very bland with practically raw onions which were uneatable, £7.95 again not value for money or enjoyable.Tea and a toasted tea cake were very nice. So unless they have vanillas on next visit, won't be eating there again. Venue itself is very nice indeed, outside area very attractive but staff need to be friendlier and more eager to please in...

Called in today (Saturday) for a hot drink and something nice to eat. It's cash only, which was fine because I had some cash. How much is the flapjack? The lady behind the covid screens (still?) said what sounded like £3, but it was difficult for me to hear. Prices on the cakes would have been helpful. The drinks and cakes were nice. We sat outside with our four-legged friend. Sadly the pleasant atmosphere was spoilt by another customer complaining about people with dogs! Not Angela's fault, I know but it put a downer on the occasion. The lady clearing tables seemed keen for us to drink up, so we did. The whole place had a tired look about it. Better labelling, smiles from staff and a lick of paint would all have...
