What a superb experience during holidays in Bournemouth!!
Me and my partner walked in this sushi place after finding it on Google, by chance! We were at the bowling close by, with another couple and we wanted something to eat at home. Of course we should have phoned before hand, but because we didn't know exactly what to expect, we walked in and asked for take away for 4 people. The chef was so accommodating and kind to take our request! I don't know if it was because we looked too hungry!! He even let us sit on the bench while waiting, so we could watch his work. We were so thankful and amazed, we had to book for the next day, no doubt!! And so we did and All I know is that I had the best sushi ever, on both days!! So full of flavour, so fresh, so meticulously prepared, great variety of ingredients. You can tell there is a lot of work and love putting into the food and service they provide.
The staff is so friendly and sweet! I can't believe I found this gem during our holidays, it was too good to be true! I would dinne here every week if I lived down South 🙂
I cannot recommend this place enough for those who love sushi. Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much chef Kamil and team, for accomodating us and providing us with such beautiful experience! I hope the staff gets to read this, we didn't get the chance to thank properly before leaving. You were all amazing and the food, oh...
Read moreI tried the Bluefin Tuna Chirashi and my friend had a Omakase Sushi. The staff highly recommended the chef's special Chirashi as it is rare to find Bluefin Tuna in the UK, and it's true, so I ordered it.
Unfortunately, I barely could find the Bluefin tuna in my Chirashi, and it didn't taste good, just the mince tuna with some soy sauce. The so-called Chirashi was very weird, it's the weird combination...How can you added the lime, egg and whole seaweed sheet into a Chirashi?! It is not Chirashi, it just a European style "Japanese rice bowl".
My friend said the sushi is localised, it's more sour and weird combination. In Japan, no one puts black sesame on salmon sushi, because the black sesame is too strong, it will cover the salmon taste. It's sad that the chef has no common sense.
We were very disappointed as this restaurant got a Michelin star and the chef claims obtained a certificate in Japan. We expected to taste authentic sushi but unfortunately not. There is for those who have never been in Japan who may think it tastes good here.
Plus, 15% service charge? That's too much! It's not a fancy restaurant in London, and not good service at all. If anyone want to try something close to authentic sushi, you can still find it in town, and it’s much reasonable price and...
Read moreHaving lived in London for 13 years one of the biggest worries about moving back home to Dorset was not being able to find decent sushi.
Since Art Sushi opened during lockdown we have been going at least once a month. Chef Kamil and his team are extremely welcoming to the point that we are now on first name terms and he remembers some of my favourite dishes from each previous visit.
This visit was a little different from other visits though as it was the first time we had visited since we had learnt that my partner and I were expecting our first child.
Conscious that raw fish is not recommended when pregnant we informed chef Kamil of our situation. On learning this Chef went out of his way to adapt certain dishes with cooked fish substitutes meaning our meal was even more special than normal. Nothing was too much trouble on this particular visit and it was all done with a smile on the faces of the staff.
This restaurant blows the others in the vicinity out of the water on quality, service and also value for money. In fact I would say it’s better than the majority of London restaurants I’ve also been too.
Keep up the great work Chef Kamil and the team. Your offering is so truly unique to the Dorset area and I feel truly blessed to have you on...
