Very strange and unpleasant experience. Unprofessional staff. Wouldn't recommend or go back. We went in here on Sunday night 09/07/23, (2 women) and asked politely to use the toilet after walking for an hour and feeling a bit desperate.. first we were refused by what looked like a semi-intoxicated patron, a man who was not in any uniform and had been sat at a table with customers drinking there, then we were told "actually yes you can" by a female bar staff so we said "thank you" and took a step forward then another female bar staff jumped behind her with her hands up in the air and said "no you can't!" And we asked "why not?" And the strange behaving patron jumped in beside her and said "well because you have all of this stuff in your hands (referring to an unopen can of diet coke in my friends hand) and you haven't bought anything/ spent any money here" to which we happily offered to buy a few packets of crisps or something, we were very happy to buy something but they point blank refused because they were closing up and trying to get people out. A wee takes literally a few seconds and there were still 2-3 tables of people there and the doors were wide open!! It was very, very bizarre. They were treating us as though we were going to go into the toilet and plant a bomb or something!!! Honestly, we were so confused by their behaviour. So we said okay and left. Everywhere else was closed and we actually considered going in a nearby park but I couldn't bring myself to do that. I think it's cruel to treat women like that and put us in that horrible position, refuse the toilet when we were willing to pay for it. I made a complaint via their website the next day and still no one has answered. I have actually drank there a couple of times in the past and thought it a nice pub. I love the area but it's a shame they behaved like that, I would not go back. I did not like how I was treated at...
Read moreRegular visitor to Bournemouth / Westbourne. Booked The Westbourne online 2 adults 2 kids for dinner then to watch our football team (this was specified on booking in special requests section). Turned up temporary menu due to works in the kitchen, nothing highlighted to us before, also kitchen closes at 19:00 instead of 21:00 as advertised. Again nothing mentioned on booking. Kids meals bought out wrong, after eating they then took almost an hour to clear our table, the wine we requested they didn’t have, then requested 3 times for the football to be put on. Eventually this happened, was then told at 20:55 that it’s Company policy under 18s have to leave the premises by 21:00, this was at the end of half time of the football, which left us nowhere to watch the second half! The staff were not bothered by anything they couldn’t provide and totally disengaged with any concerns. They were not rude, but really seemed they couldn’t give a monkeys about providing any sort of service, it was a dead Monday evening and there were more staff than customers! My kids and partner all promised ourselves then and there - never again. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. We would advise anyone, to go elsewhere....
Read moreWhat an amazing pub! We popped in for a quick drink mid afternoon and sat outside in the sun. The pub is quite large with lots of tvs showing all different sports, and loads of soft comfortable seating. The staff were really nice and friendly, even helped me carry the drinks to the table. We had no intention of eating here but everytime food went past our table we commented on how good it looked and the smell was amazing. Well in the end we ordered and wow I can honestly say for " pub grub" it was amazing, fresh, very tasty and plenty of it. One of the best meals we have ever had in a pub. I was impressed how much the staff were on-the-ball always clearing and wiping tables and talking to just about everybody there which was nice. The service was spot on, the white wine is nice and cold and the glasses were spotless, so many places miss the lipstick on the rim. We will definitely return again and cant recommend this pub highly enough. Good staff, who have clearly been well trained by the manager, which is rare in my opinion. Give it a go you won't be...
