If I could rate this restaurant a 0 I would. I booked a table for two people on Christmas Day. Given the fact that there are 3 other Indian restaurants to chose from in Westbourne, I chose this place because a few friends had recommended their "professional service" and "delicious food" to me.
When the food had arrived, I was disappointed with the portion size. It was very small. We decided to give them a fair chance and to eat without complaining. When I was a quarter of the way through my curry, I had found something the size of a 20p piece, black, in my food. When I pulled it out, I expected it to be a herb but it wasn't. It was a cockroach! With absolutely shock and horror, I immediately dropped it on the table and called a waiter over. I was so shocked and upset. I didn't take my phone to the meal, given that it was Christmas Day, to take a photo as proof. The manager who came over was extremely rude. Took the bug from me and rushed off to the kitchen. When he arrived back as the table he asked what I wanted. I explained I was put off the food I was eating and will refuse to pay. He accused me of putting the bug there myself! Outrageous! He then began to get frustrated with me saying if I'm not paying he doesn't have to care. He wouldn't let me speak, he didn't apologize and he began to get quite angry with myself and my partner.
My partner decided he would also refuse payment due to the disgusting service we had received. The manager tried to rush us out of the restaurant, trying to hush us, then began to shout at us at the door.
This series of events have actually ruined my Christmas. I decided to spend Christmas away from family to eat at this restaurant. I will never return to this place and have forward this on to food health and...
Read moreNot only the worst Indian Cuisine Restaurant I have been to, but the worst experience out dining I've ever encountered. Not one to go to the trouble of writing a review however felt it necessary to express for warn others!
I went with a friend (who actually recommended it) and they had booked a table in the booth. We arrived on time but no booths available so sat us down on a table near the back of the restaurant. It was explained to them that they should have kept one of the booth tables available at that time but they didn't apologise or seem to care.
Eventually, and fortunately, one of the groups were leaving in the booth so we moved into there was the table was cleared and cleaned.
Service was terrible throughout. Period.
Apart from some parts of the lamb being okay, it was fatty and I had to discretely remove. Mater paneer was horrible, tasted of nothing, sauce was thin and the cheese tasted like plastic.
The bill for just two of us was extortionate with a tikka masala on it's own (no rice) costing £14.95 alone!!
No greeting on way in or way out even though there were two staff members at the bar who saw us walking out.
Some further points to address, that the decor is dated. I'm aware they are going for authenticity but it felt dirty, shabby and dingy. Also, the toilets were absolutely disgusting with what looked like the floors hadn't been cleaned for sometime, broken parts to appliances left on side, cobwebs and grit and dirt on window shelves, taps hardly worked.
All in all a horrendous experience and will next step foot in...
Read moreA lovely traditional Indian restaurant with decors, artwork and seating to match visiting an Indian. Very spacious place with lots of tables well spaced out. The staff were very friendly. Drinks came quickly as expected, followed by starters and main course. The starters were hot and tasty. We ordered chicken tikka, chicken chaat, mix kebab and chicken tandoori it tasted lovely. For mains we ordered 2x prawn jalfrezi, chicken and meat bouna and requested them to be a little hot for our deshi palette. The prawn was very tasty and its sauce was really delicious and so was the chicken curry. The meat was ok but not to everyone liking but you cant please everyone with taste. Price was as expected with mint chocs at the end with wet wipes as expected. Manager was friendly conversing with us about our home town etc. Thank you to manager, staff and chef was a lovely evening after a great 3 days exploring the local countryside. The beach is just a 15mins walk and a great place to walk off...
