Ask Italian — Restaurant in England

Saturday 24/03/2018. Having prebooked a18th birthday meal here for my daughter over three weeks before and having contacted the restaurant to let them know there are 20 people eating there, we arranged for me to collect a menu so that each person could pre order their meal prior to arriving at the restaurant. On the day of the meal I had dropped the birthday cake off and placed balloons on the table at about 6pm also I checked with the restaurant as to wether they had received my email sent at 16.04pm with everyone’s order of which they said the had.All the quests arrived between 7&7.30pm only to realise we where five tables setting short which meant everyone had to squeeze up to try and fit them on. From there on it went downhill we where then told the menu had changed 10 days previous and three of the orders where no longer on the menu which they should have informed me before hand but the guest where ok to change there order. The waiter took are drinks order but unfortunately because he was sent all over the restaurant it took 45 mins before all the guest had there first drink even though half had there’s within 20 mins. By 9pm we where still waiting for our starter to arrive at which time we informed the restaurant two of our guests had to leave by 10pm the waiter bless him was brilliant trying so hard to get us sorted but the manager was not helpful at all finally a 910 pm the first starters arrived of which everyone had finished there’s by the time they realised I hadn’t had mine this arrived 10 mins later by this time two guest had decided to leave having watched other tables arriving having there meals and finished paid and left.this became an insult finally at 9.30 all the meals came out after a row with the manager by one of the guests two hours after our booking with most guests only managing to get two drinks. By this time everyone had decided to not have deserts and the cake was brought out we did the candles and left this completely ruined my daughters 18th of which half the party went home being so upset with Ask this is 20 people that no longer will be returning. To this they had our order three and a half hours before we arrived and still couldn’t get it right. We did have a discount but only after a debate with the manager and when asking for head office email address we where told to google it...

We have been customers not for the first time, but for the first time it was so poor. Start with- service Lady who served us, had most definitely a bad day. She would not put a single smile on her face and each time she was coming to our table it was not something she wanted to do. After taking our dishes, she would even ask if starter, main was ok, she just took our dishes and went out. We felt very uncomfortable as the two ladies was having great, quite chat by their counter, unlucky for us restaurant was empty. Table had dust from previous customers and after wiping out, it was shocking how dirty it was. After other customers, staff did wipe them down with, but could do with little more care to details. Regarding food. We have choose the same starter As last time, as we were so happy with it previously. Well, that was disappointing Prawns was missing delicious butter which last time they were covered with. Our mains were better, however pizza was missing pesto which was clearly stated in menu. Desserts -average, not homemade just standard bought cakes. It happened that we are owners of successful cafe with high standards to customer care and unfortunately those two ladies wouldn’t find place in our cafe. Good food, quick service and very popular. I would recommend you book a table which is easily done over phone or by there website. Which you just have to put how many details like email and name and phone and then your booked. Also on the website you can find the menu which is set out as a different page per type of food or course. They have a range of starters, I particularly like the mozzarella garlic bread which is very nice but can be dry if eating at lunch time as less effort seems to be put in. Mains there are a wide range of pizzas and pasta there are also a few normal mains with meat and vegetables. The desserts are very good there are Italian dessert such as tiramisu. Also there are others such as festive ones at certain times of the year. As well you can get a whole menu for the festive time. The other desserts include things such chocolate Etna which is a chocolate dome over ice cream and a chocolate fondant, the waitress pours hot toffee sauce over and the dome melts away. The decorations are festive at times of the year. As well the service is very quick. There is a 10 percent service charge if over 8 people.
