Pre-cinema supper. It has an eclectic bistro-style, wine bar, sort of vibe. I've been for lunch before. Tonight it was noisy, bordering on raucous, thanks to a large table of drinkers. Foodwise - I'm (cow) milk-intolerant, so the options on the menu are limited, as most things have cheese on them. I went for a mixed platter (no cheese) of salamis, salad and bread. Instead of butter I was given virgin oil and balsamic - a way better option anyway! It was delicious, and a very generous portion with lots of interesting additions, like different olives, a delicious wee red pepper, gherkins, and really good bread (possibly sourdough?). My friends enjoyed their meals too - the Raclette and a mixed platter of cheeses and meats. There's a good selection of wines too. Don't let Grumpy spoil your visit, he does eventually soften and smile 😉 It gets booked up quickly, you have to make reservations. It's well...
Read moreWe visited at 4pm on a Wednesday with our spaniel who is a placid and friendly dog. Sadly the same couldn't be said of a male patron. We ordered 2 coffees and sat at the only free table. Our dog lay down on the floor next to us. The man at the next table made an aggressive and unpleasant comment to my husband about our dog and not wanting "it" near him. My husband apologised (not sure what for really) and the man continued his complaining - our dog had not touched him. I asked the waitress to make our coffees to go and explained why but they don't do takeaway so we left without coffee and really rather hurt by such an unpleasant encounter. I appreciate the establishment can't control its patrons but it is supposed to be dog friendly so maybe it should make an effort to inform them that dogs may be present. There was already 1 dog in there when we arrived. Very...
Read moreMixed experience really. Called in on Sunday 9th July. We had 3 small, well behaved dogs with us. We were made to feel very welcome. Beer, wine and food were lovely and for that we would give 5 stars. Returned at 5.30pm on Thursday 13thJuly with 3 tired but well behaved dogs. Were told we couldn't go in as too many dogs in already. Made to feel - we weren't the 'type' he want in his establishment. So, we walked up the road along the outside of the rooms and counted 3 tables with people at them and NO other dogs whatsoever. He just didn't want us in there. So, we went to another establishment, where we were made to feel very welcome. We drank wine, and champagne and ate nibbles, and had a lovely hour or so there. So Atelier - we've given you one star because you need to get your act together when it comes to your policies. And, for making it obvious we weren't...
