Visited foxtons with a group of friends on a busy Saturday night. Little bit of confusion over our table on arrival (could be my accent) but some of our group were already there. We all ordered drinks and they arrived quickly, cocktails were amazing 🤩 Food was not as amazing I ordered the pate as a starter and it was a bit dry and crumbly, couldn't spread it on my bread. For a main I ordered the Traitors Gate burger which was fantastic but the sides were a bit on the small side. One of our party ordered the lamb curry 5 mins after ordering they were told there were no nann breads available. Then when food came it was a very small portion with only 3 pieces of meat in. Our server took it back to the kitchen and they did make a fresh one, but obviously this took some time. The fresh version was significantly larger in size and meat volume, but they had taken the soggy bread from her previous plate (the nann replacement) and put it on the new dish. I understand that we need to reduce wast but after a 10+ minute wait for a new dish surely a new slice of bread would not have been unreasonable. The rest of the party all very much enjoyed our food and the sticky toffee pudding dessert was beautiful. There was a lovely atmosphere and we had a great night despite the blips.

Pre concert meal. Cheerful welcome, nice (if chilled ) pint of guiness, and good not too sweet cider. Longish 20 minutes wait for service but when our order arrived: Mine mussels, plenty of the same and sauce, I'd have preferred more cream, but great value. Again a personal gripe, I'd rather have a couple of chunks of bread than the well cooked and tasty chips. Fellow diner's Moroccan lamb very much enjoyed. Freshly cooked, tasty, satisfying quantity. Sadly no time to try the dessert menu. Looking around, nice atmosphere, couples, friends and a solitary diner. Everyone tucking in. Just over £40, reasonable for what was on offer. We'll be trying the sweet menu on our next outing to Berwick.

Mature couple on day out. October 24. Really nice decor and ambiance..showed to our table by friendly staff member. Started with pint of pale ale for me and Glasson wine for my gorgeous lunch date. Pale ale was a great drink. Wine was OK. Reasonable glass of wine. For lunch I had mussels and chips..some real big mussels. Cream sauce was good as were the chips. Dinner date had fish and chips. Came with rustic chips, mushy peas and a home made tartar sauce. Over comment was 4 out of 5. Batter on the fish was great. Chunky chips may be not so great. Toilets are up the stairs . Stairs need a bit of tlc. Overall we enjoyed our lunch. £51.70 is good value these days.

We went for an anniversary meal. We were seated straight away, however we had booked in advance and the place was very busy so would highly recommend booking a table. We were offered drinks quickly however there is only a menu for cocktails and wines so I had to ask for their run down of their beers. I quite like an session IPA with my food, however they didn't have any available, but was told they had a pale ale that was similar so I ordered one of these. They came back with my wife's wine, but informed me they were out of the pale ale. I went round to see what other options they had and spotted a can of pale ale in the fridge so had that instead which was rather nice. Later into the meal we ordered more drinks and I asked for another of these, but they'd also ran out of them now so I just settled with a coke instead. We ordered the seafood platter to start. This should come with a warning. It was huge. By the time we polished that off we were already getting full. They had ran out of calamari so added in some hot smoked salmon flakes and extra crayfish. There was ample of each and it was all delicious. After clearing the plate away they brought our mains quite quickly. My wife had a gluten free chicken parmigiana which again was substantial and she could only manage half of it. I had the traitors gate burger which again was delicious and I struggled to finish after the epic starter. I was hoping to try the sticky toffee pudding dessert after reading other reviews, but there was no room so will be going back for round two, without the starter this time. We were constantly checked on by the staff to ensure everything was ok and we were well watered. Everything about our experience here was great (apart from the lack of a decent ale) and I would highly recommend...

Been to this restaurant twice. And on both occasions I would say the experience deserved 3 stars. First - 3 years ago, my husband portions were really small and he left the restaurant hungry. (I left a more detailed review on trip advisor back then). Second time - just few days ago, went to celebrate my husband's birthday. The service was not very friendly (I mean it wasnt bad but no smile etc. just didnt feel very welcome). My husband's steak was fortunately quite tasty but my duck was just so chewy and it was hard work to cut it or chew it. At the end of the meal I ordered a piece of cheesecake with a little candle for my husband (turned out it was lemon cheesecake which is my husband's favourite). When it arrived it turned out to be tasteless... what you could taste was cheese with a very slight lemony taste and barely sweet. I mean you could argue that its people's subjective opinion as everyone has a different level of sweet tooth but both my husband and I thought the same (and I normally reduce the amount of sugar by a quarter when I bake anyway as I dont really like overly sweet deserts). We paid 7 pounds for this tasteless cheesecake so decided to eat it anyway (I hate wasting food). When we were leaving the restaurant I decided to mention it to the staff just to give some feedback to the kitchen.. the response was weird... no one said anything at all, so we just left...We left there 70 pounds (and that's for a family of 3: main meals, drinks and that one slice of cheesecake) but left disappointed...:( Will not be coming back, but after looking at the owner's shocking responses to some of the reviews (calling people liars, idiots etc...) I guess we will not...

Went there for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had booked a table in advance but they couldn't find our reservation. They finally gave us a table but we were told to eat our meal within a certain time because they had another booking. The starter was lovely and it came quite quickly. Everything went downhill after that. The waitress was absolutely hopeless and uninterested. She brought us half of our main meal, placing the heavy plates of mussels at the top of the table so we had to move them in front of us ourselves. We then waited a few minutes for the rest of our meal and in the end, we had to ask for our chips and our bowl of lemon water ourselves before she brought them to us. There were too much mussels and not enough chips in our opinion but the white wine sauce was really lovely. Once we had finished eating, she came back and asked twice if we wanted a dessert. We said yes, twice. She said she would finish clearing our table before taking our order. She never came back to clear our table or to take our order. In the end, we asked another waitress for the dessert menu and the service greatly improved after that. Unfortunately, we found the Northumberland cheese board not very nice and expensive for what we got. Overall, the food was okay but a little expensive and the service wasn't great, which spoiled what should have been a lovely...
