It is a Wetherspoons pub so went in with fairly low expectations but even then they failed to meet them. First impressions were not good after having to squeeze through a large group of smokers on the steps outside. The inside is large and most of the local all day drinkers seemed to congregate around one end of the place so we sat in a quieter area at the other end. We ordered our food and were told that some of the items were not available so we had to change our order. When the food came it was not what we had ordered. The food itself was dry and tasteless. I know it is cheap but come on, at least try to make it appetising. I have eaten in Wetherspoons many times and they are usually much better than this. A visit to the toilet showed just how run down and badly looked after the place was. The paint on the toilet door was warn away right down to the wood showing that a redecoration was desperately needed. Once in the toilet cubicle there was no toilet paper. The other cubicle had none either so tried the disabled one instead. No toilet paper in the dispenser in there either but there was a loose roll on the baby changing unit so had to use that. Not very nice for anyone using the unit for changing a baby on. There were plenty of staff about but they were just chatting behind the bar or dealing with the food. Most places inspect toilets regularly to ensure they are clean and stocked but not here (it was only 1 pm on a Wednesday afternoon so not like they should have had much use that day). All in all I was glad to leave and wont...
Read moreNice looking pub. Although the stairs leading to toilets are quite dirty and dont look like thay have been hovered for about a year. The drinks we got were served in quite dirty glasses that are desperate for some glass renovator! Ordered the cheese and bean toastie with dirty fries and a fry up. Everything on the breakfast was deep fried. Even the mushrooms, never seen anything like them, rock hard and shriveled to death! Burned hash browns, the sausage was ment to be Cumberland but this wasnt the case. The toastie really was something else! Only toasted on one side, not quite sure if there was even any cheese in it😄 🤣 and the dirty fries came with just a drizzle of bbq sauce with some spring onions on. I went to the bar and spoke to the lady serving, she got the chef/ server to come collect the plate. He came back with it two seconds later with about 4 strands of grated cheese on top of the chips. Didnt even say anything, he just kind of chucked the plate down. Extremely awkward. Safe to say we left most of the food and left as we felt...
Read moreI have eaten all over the Country in Wetherspoons pubs, but this is definitely the worst, Gourmet burger the extra onion rings and cheese sauce was missing, the Cesar salad was swimming in sauce, the next night steak night, No steak knife, cold chips " We only have 12 steak knives " . I saw a couple sharing a steak knife, the worse was to come, 30 minutes for my daughters strawberry sundae, No fruit with it, a fork, we don't have any spoons left, but it had all but melted and my daughter had to use a straw. we did not try another evening meal, we tried the breakfast, not much better even when you are there at 08:15, at least we had cutlery, Eggs benedict soaked in Hollandaise sauce ? the large breakfast was dry, but that must mean it is healthier ?, The beer was nice for the first 2 nights, but the third night I walked out 3 beers available. The staff that are there are trying there best, but come on management, this really lets your town and the companies...
