It is a Wetherspoons pub so went in with fairly low expectations but even then they failed to meet them. First impressions were not good after having to squeeze through a large group of smokers on the steps outside. The inside is large and most of the local all day drinkers seemed to congregate around one end of the place so we sat in a quieter area at the other end. We ordered our food and were told that some of the items were not available so we had to change our order. When the food came it was not what we had ordered. The food itself was dry and tasteless. I know it is cheap but come on, at least try to make it appetising. I have eaten in Wetherspoons many times and they are usually much better than this. A visit to the toilet showed just how run down and badly looked after the place was. The paint on the toilet door was warn away right down to the wood showing that a redecoration was desperately needed. Once in the toilet cubicle there was no toilet paper. The other cubicle had none either so tried the disabled one instead. No toilet paper in the dispenser in there either but there was a loose roll on the baby changing unit so had to use that. Not very nice for anyone using the unit for changing a baby on. There were plenty of staff about but they were just chatting behind the bar or dealing with the food. Most places inspect toilets regularly to ensure they are clean and stocked but not here (it was only 1 pm on a Wednesday afternoon so not like they should have had much use that day). All in all I was glad to leave and wont...

Nice looking pub. Although the stairs leading to toilets are quite dirty and dont look like thay have been hovered for about a year. The drinks we got were served in quite dirty glasses that are desperate for some glass renovator! Ordered the cheese and bean toastie with dirty fries and a fry up. Everything on the breakfast was deep fried. Even the mushrooms, never seen anything like them, rock hard and shriveled to death! Burned hash browns, the sausage was ment to be Cumberland but this wasnt the case. The toastie really was something else! Only toasted on one side, not quite sure if there was even any cheese in it😄 🤣 and the dirty fries came with just a drizzle of bbq sauce with some spring onions on. I went to the bar and spoke to the lady serving, she got the chef/ server to come collect the plate. He came back with it two seconds later with about 4 strands of grated cheese on top of the chips. Didnt even say anything, he just kind of chucked the plate down. Extremely awkward. Safe to say we left most of the food and left as we felt...

I have eaten all over the Country in Wetherspoons pubs, but this is definitely the worst, Gourmet burger the extra onion rings and cheese sauce was missing, the Cesar salad was swimming in sauce, the next night steak night, No steak knife, cold chips " We only have 12 steak knives " . I saw a couple sharing a steak knife, the worse was to come, 30 minutes for my daughters strawberry sundae, No fruit with it, a fork, we don't have any spoons left, but it had all but melted and my daughter had to use a straw. we did not try another evening meal, we tried the breakfast, not much better even when you are there at 08:15, at least we had cutlery, Eggs benedict soaked in Hollandaise sauce ? the large breakfast was dry, but that must mean it is healthier ?, The beer was nice for the first 2 nights, but the third night I walked out 3 beers available. The staff that are there are trying there best, but come on management, this really lets your town and the companies...

Just popped in. It is technically dog friendly according to all the signs but the layout is more like a restaurant, so made me feel uneasy about sitting anywhere with our two big dogs. Had a couple of real ales in which is great to see. Would definitely go back but not with our dogs (our issue here, not there's, but we know our boys can be very excitable). Didn't have food but the layout is very much encouraging food to be served at every table. Maybe next time when we don't have the dogs. So we revisited The Salmon yesterday and found it to be an excellent experience. On entering the bar there was a dog water station with a bowl and some dog biscuits. This immediately made us feel comfortable. We sat outside with our pooch and enjoyed a couple of real ales. We had Katsu Curry and it was very good at a decent price. It was definitely worth giving the place a second chance.

Leaping Salmon Stonegate Pub Company Managed pub. Stonegate bought the Leaping Salmon from JD Wetherspoon in 2017. It's a highly visible pub at the end of the high road bridge into Berwick-upon-Tweed. It's anodyne, boring, clean and tidy. Staff are good, and overworked. A pint of Timothy Taylor's very well looked after and well served. Club Sub sandwich and waffle fries competently done. My friend who invited me paid £28 for the two of us... Including drinks. Pretty good value these days. Why JDW sold it is beyond me. Why Stonegate bought it is beyond me. Why these behemoth pubcos can't do anything interesting is beyond me. There was barely anything worth taking photos of. It's amazing. They're just places for people to walk into and have some drinks and, maybe, food and, maybe to have a chat. So dull. So uninteresting. So unlike what proper pubs are all about

Good food and drinks for really reasonable prices. Had a triple burger with fries and onion rings, a chicken sandwich with fries, 2 pints and 2 godfathers for 27£. Lots of food options and deals depending on the day. Drinks are 2x1 everyday, you would have to specifically ask for it though, bartender doesn't seem to let you know about the deals. Desserts are 2x1 too. If you are a traveler or not familiar with English ways, be aware you have to order at the bar and they'll bring you the food. Place is big and clean with a nice selection of music. They offer free WiFi. Would definitely come back!
