booked a table for 12 pp today 24/9/23 . food was absolutely disgusting. my friend was served uncooked peas with her meal . and when we spoke to the bar staff . he said the chef said sorry about that . and didn’t offer any refund or or asked if we wanted any more peas . mine and friends left most of the food . and the guys they had working there today was absolutely shocking service. !

• i cannot respond to owners review so i have to add onto my comments instead. we did turn up 40 mins late but we kept trying to phone you to let you know & there was no answer. in fact we have tried to phone loads of times since to discuss this and nobody answers. the bar staff did not apologise for the food all they said was ok. they never even offered to replace the frozen peas ! when we complained a 2nd time he said i will tell the chef and that was it. At no point did anyone ask us if the food was ok !! And at no point did anyone say they would bring fresh peas out! we did not complain about the rest of the meals as we could see there was no point. Hence why we have been trying to phone all week. but nobody ever answers the phone. i can honestly say there was not one good meal that day and in fact the last few months the food has not...

12 of us popped in for impromptu lunch, manager very engaging and polite, young lady working the bar and serving food was very nice (young boys have a bit of a crush on her so we will be going back). Food was excellent, I had a steak salad, steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, not a single bit of gristle or fat, have paid 3x as much in a well known chain steak house and got a steak that was no better in terms of quality and flavour, if this pub wasn’t 250 miles from home, I’d have to eat out there every week. A real gem in the middle of Pocklington, had a Etonian mess Waffle for dessert, just the right balance of sweet and sharp, freshly cooked warm waffle was just the right side of chewy, strawberries tart and fresh, not just a plate of spray cream and sauce. Really can’t say enough good things, exceptional value for money.

Best of all, toilets were spotlessly clean, a real positive experience after a recent visit to York that cost 40p to use a toilet that would have doubled up as part of the set from Transporting.

I went hear last night to watch the England match. From the outside the pub looked nice with 3 rooms with the sung been the the back plus a beer garden. When we first went it was quite however after a short period the swearing from the manager and his friends was very loud and Inappropriate. Then the manager sat while the girl behind the bar did all the running about. Plus the manger was bad mouth an ex member of staff who in his words had to be sacked and told his mates why in a very loud voice. I personal think that the swearing and talking about ex members of staff is not appropriate for the pub floor. I work for a large company and would not like to hear my team speak like the manager did. I think every other words was a F. I was visiting the area for the second time within a few years and thought we would try the local pubs, however I will, never step back in this pub and think the manager needs to be pulled about his attitude and...
