My wife, myself, and her parents had an early evening meal here at the end of January. We were the second group of customers so far that night and we got great service then and all the way through our visit, even when it got busier. My MIL use a wheelchair and there was only a small step at the front door to easly get over before our meal. We had a pickle tray and popadoms, a main meal each accompanied by naan bread. As I am vegatarian I actually had a good choice. There was a vegetable version of most of the dishes. The others went for meat dishes. My main was vegetable Biryani. This was a very generous portion of rice cooked with veg as well as a separate dish of veg in a thick sauce. It was very tasty with actually too much for me. We then had a coffee each. The total for four people who had soft drinks was £90. The restaurant had clearly recently been refurbished and was a nice change from other places we have been to. The staff were great with really good service and I will be back soon. Outside there is plenty of on street parking and a free car park...
Read moreWe were staying in a lodge at Alerthorpe and wanted a treat for our last night. We checked by phone that we could order to the lodge and then ordered through their website. My chicken tikka madras was really flavourful and spicy, the tikka masala was beautiful and the mushroom rice was some of the best rice iv ever had from a takeaway. Its so refreshing to see consistency in quality from here and their other site. Will definitely be ordering again next time we...

While it was a lovely meal, there were a few things which prevented it from getting 5 stars in any area - and only 3/5 overall.
While we shared a starter and didn't have a desert, and stuck to soft-drinks, the meal was as expensive as a 3 course meal with 4 drinks (2 alcoholic) at a different restaurant the following day.
The overall food quality and atmosphere wasn't "premium" enough to justify the price.
The waiter, was polite and friendly, but his "it's a vindaloo" joke, to my wife (who doesn't like "HOT" food, and suffers a little with social anxiety), really wasn't the best way to make a customer feel...
