Really wanted to love this place and had we arrived 5 minutes earlier it could have been very different.
We arrived at the time they started to collect the breakfast menus but told lunch didn’t start for 20 minutes so we had a drink while we waited.
When they gave out lunch menus I said I was ready to order but no one came back, I waited another 15minutes but still no service.
Eventually I joined the queue that had those who were sat outside (inside is table service, outside is not). Over an hour after arriving we got our food. My daughter had the soup which she didn’t like (maybe personal taste) but the bread was stale. I had the avocado on toast with the sweetcorn fritters which I enjoyed except for the fact they put it on the smallest plate possible making it difficult to eat.
I mentioned this when I went to pay, they offered my daughter a brownie which I said no to as she doesn’t like them. They gave me something else sweet to take but it got wasted as that’s not what she or I wanted, it would have been better to not serve stale bread or to discount the bill.
Don’t go when the menu is changing over.
Expect to wait, we had gone during Easter holidays but there was only 1 other child in so that’s not what...
Read moreWe had family visiting and thought it would be good to take them to Knaresborough for breakfast by the river. Our group of 7 has a nice cozy corner and our server was lovely. Sadly our eggs were supposed to be sunny side up but the bottoms of them were brown and crisp. I asked for another 2 eggs but they came out the same way. I was informed that they have to cook them that way for hygiene purposes but if that was they case they would not be able to serve runny yokes. A friend suggested I ask for poached instead but I was told I would have to pay for them since that would be 6 eggs even though I was unable to eat the first 2 sets served to me, I asked to leave it and I would know next time not to order fried eggs. My husband had eggs benedict that said gammon but he was given a slice of cold ham, the sauce was cold as well. On leaving a lady approached me saying she’d heard there had been an issue which I explained. The out come of this conversation was less than satisfying. Our group said after that we would just go somewhere else. I hope others have a better experience...
Read moreAvoid Unless You’re a Cyclist or a regular!
If you're not a cyclist or a regular, don’t bother. Took my family of four here for breakfast and was told there would be a short wait for food. Shortly after, two large groups of cyclists (around 6 people in each) arrived, were seated, and served within 30 minutes. Meanwhile, we waited…and waited.
After 45 minutes, the kids were getting hangry and the couple seated next to us who arrived just before we did were still waiting. We had an appointment to get to, so I had to ask for our food to be boxed up. When I questioned why the larger groups had been served first, the owner bluntly explained that regular customers get priority!!
In total, we waited over an hour for four simple breakfast baps. Absolutely shocking service and complete disregard for families. Had they been honest and upfront about their "regulars-first" policy, we would have left and eaten somewhere that values all its customers. Never again. They don't deserve new customers, so unless you are a regular or a cyclist...
