Abandoned in the garden on a Tuesday evening :( Meal for two of us, table 123. I ordered a seabass fillet and a pork belly. I was surprised to receive the food after 10 minutes only. My fish had hardly any meat (see photo) with broccoli (a half inch piece), new potatoes (literally 2), capers (a few), lemon (half), and a handful of microwaved frozen peas. Apologies but for £20 I feel totally ripped off. The pork belly was okay although did not look freshly plated. No staff in sight for an hour, it was dark when we left, dishes still on the table. Very disappointing!

Came for Sunday roast to be told they had sold out. So went through the menu, once we were eaten out dinner guess what appeared. Rib of beef yorky pudds and veg! Asked the staff about it, When we arrived they had ran out. Where on a Sunday @1700 can you get rib of beef. Now the other thing is if it was cooking why not say it’s gonna be a while! Also my beer had lipstick on the glass? Obviously not particular to the silvers and glasses. Will not return! Can’t even say who served us!

A drinkers pub taken over by Chef and Brewer and turned into a food orientated gastro pub for once with great results. The staff are amazing and the manager Ijaz makes sure everything is as desired. The vegetarian roasts are amazing and very well priced as even today as the veggie roasts have run out the chefs are whipping up an alternative for us proving everything isn’t already pre packaged. Great food, great staff and greet beer. Thank you

The whole experience spoilt our day. We had been looking forward to a three course lunch and coffee. It took half an hour from ordering for the first course to come. Then we had to ask for the second course. I had asked for my baked chips to be hot (I had experience with luke warm food there before). The chips were luke warm. I sent it back and they were replaced by fries instead of baked. I sent it back again and when the it finally came back, it seems the baked chips had simply been put back in the oven to heat as they were tough and some inedible. By the time it came my husband had finished his main course. It took an hour and a half from ordering for my main course to finally be presented to me, just as I was considering giving up and and leaving. After I finished we decided just to go. We were not in a hurry but an hour and three quarters, mainly waiting, made us gradually lose the will to leave. The servers were friendly enough and they took the price of my main course off the bill, but they were inefficient. They would bring someone their order, and go straight back to bar, looking neither left or right to see if anyone wanted service. And there seems to be no way for the kitchen to tell staff that food is ready. No doubt they will say they were busy, but I have seen them busier and it has never been...

As I suffer with severe Asperger's Syndrome, I find restaurants particularly challenging (noise, crowds, staff attitude). I 'found' the Boot & Slipper in Amersham via a family friend who knows of my challenges so I thought I'd give it a go... VERY impressed I was.

The staff were attentive enough with out being pushy, the manager (coincidently) put our party into an alcove where I felt 'safe & secure'. The menu was clearly written and easy to understand (& the staff will amend things on the menu if necessary).

I always notice 'the small points' which sometimes can make staff antagonistic towards me as they think I am being 'bl**dy-minded or arrogant (often both) but the staff/management at the Boot & Slipper make no such opinions towards me - phew!

As far as I am aware, the staff/management here are NOT aware of my difficulties (as I don't broadcast it) - unless I become agitated and/or stressed - but now this restaurant is 'safe' in my mind so they probably never will!

So to any 'Aspies' (or family-organisers) out there looking for a good, safe & secure restaurant to eat out at - make sure you go to The Boot & Slipper, Amersham - you will...

Reasonable pub with over-average food but some of the bar staff are quite discourteous with not even a “please” or “thank you”. There’s little excuse for neglecting the basics in customer service, and no pub can afford to become complacent in today’s environment. The bar staff are the face of the establishment and the ones most customers interact with the most, so a little more effort can go a long way. Update 2020: What a difference a change of staff makes! Courteous and attentive waiting staff make the experience so much better. Even throughout the covid restrictions they maintained distancing regs, reassured customers and ensured everyone entering was conversant with the new practices. The welcome is matched by the general ambience making for a pleasant experience all round. Food is very good quality at these prices too, with a decent menu selection. Can’t vouch for the attitude of the bar staff whilst customers cannot approach that part of the establishment, but after visiting a few times this year I am happy to recommend the...
