I have been here before with no problems. Yesterday I went with a friend who has a nut allergy. As expected, when the server came, she asked about allergies. We stated yes, that it was a nut allergy . We established it was not airborne and briefly discussed cross contamination . Then another server came, and we went through the whole allergy discussion again. At this point, we were wondering if there was a problem. We eat out regularly and understand that food allergy checks need to be made. Then a three person arrives at our table. At this point, we thought we would just leave, as we did not feel confident that they could meet our dietary needs. We were then told that obviously did not see the sign on the way in, which said if you have a nut allergy, do not enter. We then left. If the staff had told us they had concerns about it. Or did not have the facilities or the knowledge to manage our food order, that would have been fine. Also, the sign outside. Why is it only people with nut allergies that are discriminated against. Would it not be better to have a sign stating you are not a nut free establishment . People can then make...
Read moreI've been here before with no issues but today I tried to visit for breakfast and I'm genuinely shocked. I do have a nut allergy and let the server know, she than asks me how bad it is, I let her know it is not an airborne allergy, I just can't eat nuts. Then a second server comes to ask the same thing again so I explain the same thing again. Then ANOTHER member of staff comes to ask AGAIN. Its good they wanted to check but at this point I was confused why this was such a big deal. They tell me they have a sign outside saying if you have a nut allergy to not even enter the premises 😂 I have no idea why.
I've never had an issue eating out and having food prepared by any other cafe or restaurant. I'm pretty sure it's standard to cater for people with allergies.
What about people with other allergies? Why do they only hate with people with nut allergies? We decided to just leave as we felt they clearly didn't want us there and I wasn't confident they could provide food that wasn't contaminated.
A truly bizarre experience. Anyway I went to another cafe up the road who had absolutely zero issues providing...
Read moreCalled in here for lunch, we ordered 2 soup of the day with bread, 1goats cheese with rocket, pear and walnuts drizzled with honey served on a flatbread which we shared. The portions were excellent, add 1 beer 1 milkshake with whipped cream and a diet coke total bill under £30 which was great value for money. The staff here were friendly and apologetic about the wait, which given it was lunchtime and they were full, it certainly wasn't excessive. Called here again a couple of weeks later and was pleasantly surprised that the staff recognised us despite it being so busy on our 1st visit. Once again the food and service...
