This place is something of a hidden gem and certainly offers a better level of cuisine than it's slightly underwhelming exterior might suggest. Set on the edge of the park and just back from the coastal path, a couple of well placed sandwich boards or a sign on the boundary wall would be helpful. Once inside it is well organised and spacious for Covid compliance. There is a marquee area and open air seating to the front if not too cold. Menu isn't huge (but where is these days) however there is a mix of tasty 'small plates' or main courses. I had pan fried mackerel over Chinese style veg in miso sauce which was really fresh and tasty. My partner had coconut and butternut squash soup which was warmly spiced, thick and delicious. Others were having home made pizzas, burgers and, as you'd expect, one of several other seafood dishes. There is a licensed bar and a good selection of wines, beers hot and cold drinks. The decor certainly catches the eye, something of a hybrid beach house meets art gallery. You may want to choose your table carefully if the male anatomy offends.

A fantastic spot for food or drinks by the sea! It’s always a positive bustling atmosphere in here. They serve freshly prepared delicious food which is always beautifully presented, cakes, drinks alcoholic and coffees and soft drinks. Sometimes they have live music too. You can sit in, or out in the sunshine or under cover. It’s dog friendly and child friendly. They don’t do as many vegan options as they used to (I wish they’d bring back the aubergine fish fingers from years ago!!!) but there are still some options and they do vegan cheese so can swap some stuff out. 20p from all pizzas goes to the Wave project, and they’re super fresh yummy pizzas!! Edit: Reduction of a star as actually service is inconsistent - some staff fantastic but when we went back again one of them was very rude. Friends told me the staff have been rude to them when they’ve been here too, though it was the first time I’d experienced it myself.

I so wanted to like this place and food but our dinner was so disappointing. This papadum like pizza was small and greasy, missing ingredients and it is £16! This was size of a small pizza everywhere else, please check the size of the knife on the photo for comparison, and really the dough was paper thin like a papadum with a bit of chess and other bits, missing basil (that after questioning we were told they just ran out of it) and covered with mayo from the bottle. And by the way by the "nduja" they mean spicy pork sausage, it is not name for the pizza. I really wanted to support your local business but we waited for food for so long and it was such an expensive disappointment! Won't be returning unless it is for a drink only.

I don't often leave reviews unless a place really has that impact to make it memorable. Wow talk about being pleasantly surprised! We live local and regularly visit the park and beach but for the first time today we sat at cantina and ordered some pizza... Good pizza that tastes like it's made with care and good ingredients.

We had a large beef brisket, and a large mozzarella, there was a reasonable wait as you'd expect when eating out.

Staff were friendly and seemed happy, drinks were out shortly after ordering and it was busy but spacious.

But it's not just the food or the staff, there's a few little pleasant suprises within cantina as well that gives the place a bit of heart and fun whilst proving it's not a rush for money business.

This is a lovely family place to go but I'd also be glad to go with a few friends for a drink and bite to eat, in a good location and I got the impression that it was truly designed around giving the customer a pleasant experience.

You've just got to go in and see for yourself and be sure to leave a tip, they deserve it.

The pizza was so good we got another to takeaway and some cake as well.

No acid, no grease, just good clean pizza in a comfortable environment.

👍😊 Well done kitchen and foh you must be a great team, I imagine you have a good boss as well. Il be sure to tell my friends, customers and work colleagues, see you again cantina

Cant complain with the overall cost either fair price for a...

I've visited this cafe, restaurant for many years and seen management and staff, decor and menu changes over this time. In its present guise the indoor area is quite relaxed and the outdoor area is similar and really comes into its own I'm the summer when holidaymakers join locals as Customers. I've found the staff friendly and the service efficient, the most recent visit being no exception. However on a recent visit the burglar alarm went off whilst I was sitting outside with others making conversation impossible. I believe the owner came out and observed the errant siren a couple of times but at no point did he or any of the staff attempt to apologise for the ongoing alarm or explain what was happening. Not good . The coffee is fine here and the cakes look good and the food can be interesting and tasty - either the "fast food" or more interesting specials. Like a growing number of places it's payment by "card only" . I find this trend annoying and discriminates against people who do not have a bank card . You also need to give your table number when ordering so if you are on your own you have the problem of "saving" a table whilst you place your order. Ordering by phone may be an option but again there are people who don't possess smart phones. Lastly you need to accept dogs as many customers are accompanied by their pet or pets. Sometimes the dogs aren't obedient or calm! The live music is usually of a...

We arrived at 11:35, knowing that breakfast finished at 11:45. I not been well and haven’t been enjoying food lately but had really enjoyed the vanilla crumble French toast a few weeks ago. We could’ve ordered, with time to spare, via the app but my friend is GF so wanted to ask if it was available with GF bread. She queued behind 2 other people. I asked the lady who was making coffee if we would still be able to order from the breakfast menu and she assured me that we would as were in the queue. However, we were then told that the chef would not allow this. It was still only 11:42 when we were stood at the counter to order. I have been a regular customer here for years. Been to events, NYE, family Sunday Roast, both summer and winter, and I regularly take people there. I understand that he knows none of that, or how poorly I have been (irrelevant I know) and the lady behind the counter was so apologetic. But even with no reason we could still have ordered in time. Not busy, and no good reason to refuse us. I would have left had it not been that my friend had come a long way to take me there for that specific easy to make breakfast. Not a pleasant visit, and if you’re going to doggedly stick to the rules at least make sure you’re...
