Chatterbox — Restaurant in England

I have held back from posting about Chatterbox as a long term visitor I saw transition between the Greek couple who retired and the new owners.

Having read the other reviews I would like to give a before and after.

Before the food was great, the Greek gentleman was always friendly and polite, the decor was run down.

On change of ownership the cafe has been refurbished and our first visit we were greeted with abrupt and grumpy serving person. The food was good, but we felt service was poor.

Having persevered we have found serving staff far more friendly and the food still good. I would suggest new staff and management were stressed as new to the cafe.

I have been in chatterbox a few times . Nice food and generous portions.however today I had an omelette and as I got to the middle of it I found a hair . I just pulled it out and threw it away . But in the next bite ifound two more . . I kept them to show the waitress . I didn't make a fuss . As we were leaving I showed her the hairs .and she said it must have come from the table or the chair and that it wasn't one of theirs . I pointed out again that it was in my omelette and she still denied it with a shrug of the shoulders . If she had been the least bit apologetic I would not have left this review . Not even a sorry . I will now contact environmental health. As I'm sure they should be wearing...

Has gone downhill, last time everything was lovley. This time my partner had the faggots, they were so hard she could not eat them. The potatoes were hard and cold and the veg needed to be cooked not just dipped in hot water and then taken out.

Rather a bad experience, won't try here again for...
