I visited this Costa Coffee twice today. The first occasion I was served by a pleasant woman and was subsequently happy with my visit. An hour later, however, I was disgusted at how the man who served me was treated by a barista. He told her that the till wasn't working (she was nearby collecting syrup) and whether he should turn it off and switch it off again. She heard him and chose to simply glare at him. Later, I received the same glare from her when I joked that the soup in the microwave looked like it might explode (there was a huge amount of steam). When the man took the soup out of the microwave he went to put the lid on - I said "No, no, no" as I wanted to let it cool a little with the lid off before I put the lid on and took it up to the ward for my Aunt. She told me there was no need to shout about it - I hardly think I shouted about it as the man didn't hear me despite being only 2 metres away. The customer stood next to me shared a knowing look with me and commented that maybe she should work away from the customers. I couldn't agree more - maybe some further training is required. I didn't get her name but I'm sure the manager is already aware of the barista with the bad attitude. If I'd only visited the once today, I'd be leaving a 5 star review. The self service machines are not user friendly, they canât accept loyalty cards so no points on purchases, most of the customers are staff and simply do not have the time to wait for this system as most people using struggle to navigate it. Customers were going to the tills to purchase only to be sent away and the queue was growing for the self service all the time with many (including hospital staff) just walking away. Ridiculous system considering numerous staff stood behind the counter twiddling thumbs or dealing with customers they couldnât serve! plus your poor member of staff trying to help at the self service having to endure frustrated customers.    Read moreNot a great experience, you can only order on the shelf service boards, not user friendly, took 3 times before it worked. Alot of people was having problems ordering. No sign to say you can't order at the counter. It's a hospital and this is not a suitable option for all people. People where walking in past them ,then standing at the counter and then after waiting being told they had to use the screens. One member of staff was on the floor but not always at the screen to assist. This way of ordering is not putting the customer first . Where is the option to pay by cash ? I had a voucher and you can't use them . They have the monopoly and could be improved greatly. Bring back the old cafe when it was run by the charity or a local company that might put the customer and there needs first. Coffee was okay. Staff where friendly....
