I wanted to give The Cottage Bakery a decent score as bakers seem to be few and far these days but I have to say the cheese & onion pie was by far the most dismal I have ever had, and I've had a lot of pies!
The pastry was fine, if maybe a little dense on the base, but the filling, which resembled a rather solid beige paste, was totally devoid of both cheese & onion, and even basic seasoning.
It was so flavourless I even had a mate try it to see if it was just me being picky and he couldn't identify the filling by either look or taste. It's rare I throw good food away but this wasn't good and 3/4 went into the bin, which is a first for me when it comes to pies. I'm sure some of the other products rate higher but I wouldn't give this particular pie to the dog.
On a positive, the staff were cheerful and they looked to have a wide range of traditional items on offer, which hopefully rate higher than the poor excuse for a cheese & onion...
Read moreJust found out that the 4 products I purchased earlier contains Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil which contains very high levels of erucic acid, a compound that in moderate to large amounts can be toxic to humans it is also GMO and proven to cause heart issues especially amongst young people. I would strongly suggest taking custom elsewhere, also I wasn't keen on the virtue signalling by rude staff or the draconian convid practices in-store which harbours germs and stops proper air ventilation, I also found it hard hearing staff through a 3 inch thick plastic panel. Lastly hygiene practices concern me by watching the video on Blackpool News website with a female working adding smarties to gingerbread MEN with dirty bare fingers and nails, including the lack of hair nets. I'll be reporting this to Blackpool's Food Safety...

Being non binary isn’t a marketing ploy. Calling things “non binary” to “be more inclusive” literally TO PEOPLE LIKE ME, is so absolutely condescending. People like you, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, make it harder for people like me, with your fake upper middle class “pat yourself on the back inclusion nonsense”.
