My wife and I had a meal here as my birthday treat. I would say this is as perfect as it gets. The food is too die for, perfect in every way. I've put some photos below but they don't really do it justice. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff are very attentive without being over powering. Richard the owner is a nice guy, very friendly and the waiter ( sorry I didn't get his name) is also very professional and friendly. We couldn't fault this Restaurant which is made all the more special as it is in the heart of Polperro village. But don't take my word for it, you must try it for yourself

Wow, we had what we called the best meal we have ever had last Friday. The most amazing meal. The service was exceptional and the food was amazing. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. The Amouse Bouche was so full of flavour as was the dressed Crab and Roasted Scallops. The cod was very very good and the Hake was amazing with what I called the ring of flavour Salsa Verde.... the chocolate bonbon was my favourite of the dessert trio although all good. A very very nice bottle of Pinot washed it all down nicely. Couldn't recommend it enough.

We absolutely love this place. We've been returning customers now for nearly 7 years and try to travel up specially once a year. Fantastic food, great ambience and the staff are great. Richard is so down to earth and accomodating, Phil is a real asset, really making the customers welcome and you can't help but love his bubbly, happy character. And head chef Ricky does a fabulous job. We've never had a dish we haven't loved and have plenty of wonderful memories from our visits. Highly recommended.

I visited this restaurant with my wife and 6 friends for a 50th birthday dinner but was not expecting the night we had! We were met on arrival by the chef - or so we thought - in his whites, who was very welcoming and jovial. We were given menus and asked what drinks we would like - the men chose the local ale and the women, Prosecco (of course!) . Everything on the menu had a recommended wine match to it - yes, everything! After much debate and changing of minds, we were ready to order - 5 courses!. I think everyone had something different - even the veggies had different fish! The wine choices were excellent too, with much sharing and sampling going on! The food, and I think everyone agreed, was the best we had ever had! My guinea fowl was simply superb and my wife's rack of lamb just melted in the mouth (my mouth is watering just thinking about it). Desert was another jaw dropping experience - all were of the highest quality - outstanding! Cheese and biscuits were next, followed by port and sounds of contentment from around the table. We spent at least half an hour talking to the chef that met us at the door, only to find that he was in fact, the owner and a thoroughly nice man! If only we had come here at the start of our week and not the end! Oh well, we will just have to come back then! Everything about the meal was top drawer - and for only £145 a couple including tip! What a bargain! If you are anywhere near Polperro, you simply have to get a table at this...

OK, this is not a cheap place, but a great place. From the moment we got welcomed we felt completely at home and very well attended to. There is a quaint menu set up, but the way this is organized ensures great value and freshness of the food; there is only one menu available. Set price. Not many options for starters mains or desserts, which indicates that the chef knows what he’s doing. And he or she is!! This is cooking on high-level. Great balance in tastes, risks taken, gorgeous presentation, but most of all cooked and served with an abundance of love and professional knowledge. Our waiter seemed to be overjoyed with every plate he brought in, almost bursting with pride and anticipation for our reaction. Great wine by the way! So a well put together Winelist. Sometimes you feel somewhat disappointed and ill at ease when paying a bill that’s not worth the meal. But here I was more than overjoyed to settle our accounts. This restaurant cannot be over recommend!...

My son and I went for a meal here on the evening of Monday 28th Sept and we weren't disappointed - excellent food, attentive service and really great value for money.

The starter we had of locally sourced scallops with chorizo on balsamic reduction are the best yet tasted from any establishment we have eaten at. This was followed by the slow roasted pork belly main for me, again a really great dish and highly recommended, the crackling was fantastic. My son had the local cod which I also tried, again another really great dish.

Couch's is full on "fine dining" but not at the normal prices you expect for such high quality food and the portions are generous. Would highly recommend to anyone in the Polperro area of Cornwall, whether visiting or living locally to make sure you try this restaurant out for yourselves. I will definitely go back when next...
