Staying near Durham and booked Dingsway in advance (so easy direct via Google). Parked up the hill on Neville St (the restaurant tipping us off to turn right and not get caught by the traffic camera in the bus lane).
Really helpful and friendly staff, quick service. Amazing food, from the starters we loved the Tofu Steak - next up the sushi was a particular treat Aburi Unagi Dragon (pictured) very rich in flavour, also loved the Teriyaki Chicken Katsu. All so carefully prepared, fresh and beautifully presented. We were treated to a taster of Salmon Nigiri - beautiful and so moreish - I'd definitely order a portion if I get the opportunity to return.
The Tofu Mixed vegetable curry main also went down really well.
All absolutely massive portions leaving us feeling very full.
We thought the price very reasonable considering the quality (and size)! Only wished we lived locally and could...
Read moreMy wife and I just enjoyed a fantastic lunch here whilst staying in Durham for a few days. The place is small, cozy, and authentically Japanese - great decor and ambience.
I’m a huge fan of tonkotsu ramen, and love to hunt it out when I travel, and… drum roll… I think this is one of the best I’ve found yet. Thick, delicious chashu pork, perfectly marinated ramen eggs, flavourful broth… just typing this is making me want to go back in for a second bowl!
My wife, a big sushi fan, had the teriyaki chicken futomaki and loved it. In fact, she loved it so much she forgot to share, so I’ll need to take her word for it, but it sure looked amazing.
The fried chicken gyozas were also great as a starter, as was the sweet matcha dorayaki we enjoyed at the end as a treat. All in all, a fantastic experience, with great food and great service. Would return in...

See below for my old review. Since then, standards have gone up a lot, and now the restaurant has become one of our favourite places to eat in Durham. Very good food and drinks are served a lot better than before. I would recommend visiting,. particularly if you are into sushi.
Old review: Very good sushi, and good food overall. Nice atmosphere as well. The reasons we put 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because of the warm overpriced Sprite can we ordered that was open on serving, and feeling lighter than it should (served with a plastic straw) as well as a noisy bunch of lads on the table next to us that the restaurant staff didn't address - one of the other customers in the restaurant had to quieten down the lads themselves. We will certainly visit again, but hope they improve on this...
