Popped in on a rainy Sunday afternoon. First time I visited since the name change. Definitely a sports bar now as has loads of screens and blaring football commentary, if that's your thing. Lot's of good seating options, from small low and high tables for 2, good-sized 4-seaters, including some next to the window, and 6-seater booths with their own tv screen.

A good range of beers, lagers and ciders. Ones that you'd expect to see as well as quite a few real ales. I chose Doom Bar - very cheap at £2.40. It was very busy when I was there but there were plenty of staff on and I hardly had to wait at all before being served. The staff were nice and friendly.

I ordered a vegetarian Sunday dinner for £7.30 as I couldn't resist the photo/description that promised a giant Yorkshire pudding and a plate groaning with potatoes, veggies and peas. After a good 25-30 mins, what arrived was nothing like that at all: a few roast potatoes, a small amount of mashed potato with a bit of broccoli and carrot, no peas, and a small, slightly blonde Yorkshire pudding. All were luke warm. With that came a piping hot veggie tart. After eating the veggies first, and when I could finally eat the tart, it turned out to be a Thai-flavoured concoction - tasty, but slightly odd for a Sunday dinner. Also, the portion size was small, rather than generous.

Overall, nice atmosphere, good seating, cheap beer, plenty of friendly staff, but slightly disappointing...

3rd time in here and my last.

The 1st time food arrived cold, and with a wrong meal.

2nd time, after being overcharged and having arrived cold, I asked the bar person about it, and she said it was my fault that I didn't speak up when asked what I wanted to order. But I know what we both asked for, and she didn't say any different taking the order.

3rd time today, as I had been shopping, I was early for my bus, so I popped in to keep warm. I sat at a table as I was alone as I did in most places when alone and used the app. I ordered at 5.10 a drink and waited patiently. The pub was not busy, the 2 staff members were chatting behind the bar and another serving food and cleaning. After 12 minutes, due to no customers being served, I had less than 15 minutes left til the bus was due. I approached the bar, and the staff member went to the till and finally sorted my drink. I then had to rush it and go for the bus. The reason I use the app is not to inconvenience the staff but for my safety and the security of my property, and I feel that now enough is enough. If they can't get 1 drink, just a pint out when there were no customers were...

Visted 27.5.13 - bank holiday Monday @ 4.30pm The place was moderately busy but desperately lacked staff. As soon as we entered there was a definate smell of a men's toilet and once sat down it was evident it could certainly do with a good clean, tables were sticky and had leftover food on them and on the floor, we had to remove other people's dirty plates from the table ourselves as no one came to remove them and refresh the table. I ordered a glass of coke and the glass smelt really badly of urine, obviously unable to drink it ! We waited a long time for our meal to arrive and were told the reason being, only one person was working in the kitchen. The toilets had been neglected too, they also could have done with a clean, standing water all around the basin work tops and dirty hand prints all over the doors and mirrors. The positive side - the food when it arrived was very good and proved excellent value for money but the lack of cleanliness spoilt it for me. The decor and carpets were extremely good but they need to employ more staff, as the 2 nice lads behind the bar were run off their feet. Won't be returning...

Visited this pub on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime and it was really nice. A few couples here and there enjoying food. We opted for a booth and ordered a sharing platter at the bar when we got drinks - £12.49 where you pick 5 small plate items. The menu was like a Wetherspoons and quite cheap. Food arrived within maybe ten minutes and were larger portions than we had thought. Nachos and hunters loaded fries were lush, chicken pieces were a bit dry and the wings were well overdone. However, still edible and you can’t complain at how much they cost. My hubby had a pint of beer and I had a Coke, lovely and cold and I got them from the friendly lass at the bar. Plenty of seats, clean toilets upstairs and overall good experience. We will be back for sure. If you’re looking for somewhere cheap with plenty of choice, you can’t go past this place.

I'd love to leave a good review for this city-centre vibrant pub with the party atmosphere, but there were just too many factors letting it down. We stopped by for lunch instead of going to Greene King & kind of wished we hadn't. My partner ordered sausages & mash while I had the scampi. Her meal was obviously a terrible microwave meal, with very dense & tough to cut sausages, overly thick gravy and peas like bullets. The scampi was hot & juicy but the chips they came with were akin to French fries, like tough little sticks & not soft at all. The price kind of reflected the quality of the food & we were left wishing we'd done our due diligence beforehand. We wouldn't return.

Went there today. Won't be going back. Burger bun and bacon was completely burned black. You could not tell the bacon was bacon, it was charcoal! Sent it back and swapped the bun and bacon but I still had to pick black chunks out the burger batter and cheese. The chips were refried. Disgusting they thought that was acceptable. I could smell my husbands burned food from the other side of the table and see it was burned on top so the server could clearly see and smell it as she brought it across. Not happy at all. Photo of what I picked out when they brought it back... That's bacon...
