I have never in my life walked out of a restaurant without paying until I visited DNA Steakhouse. Me and my friend were working at the Silverstone F1 and had heard good things about DNA, so naturally, we were excited to have a nice hearty meal before a busy week of work.
When we arrived, we were given a table despite it being almost fully-booked. The floor staff were polite and brought us menus and water. We ordered the chicken wings and calamari to start (I can't remember what we ordered for mains, we didn't get that far!).
When the starters arrived; the calamari consisted of three rings costing nearly £10 which in itself was disappointing, and the chicken wings actually looked really good! The first bite of food I had was one of the chicken wings, which I had to quickly spit out as the chicken was raw! I informed the waitress who was mortified and she said she would get a manager. We were then approached by the head chef who didn't introduce himself and then picked up another chicken wing, ripped it apart with his hands in the middle of the dining room, and found that the other chicken wing was also raw. The chef smiled and said "We cook them all the way through" and giggled. I replied "Clearly not." and did not find a funny in the slightest. We then thanked the waitresses and left.
As mentioned, I have never left a restaurant without paying until this instance. For a restaurant of this calibre, the way this was handled was appalling. No apology either for something that could have made me seriously ill or worse!
I'm sure this is extremely rare or maybe even a first for this restaurant, however this is one...
Read moreGoing against my norm I'll giving a short account of the small things they can do to improve the experience. 1. If sitting at the back near the kitchen, please keep the outer door closed as the draft was quite cold. 2. Slightly more attentive staff as took us several minutes to get the bill as they were stood at the bar chatting.
With that out the way, this place is a must visit eatery in Towcester. The decore is warm and inviting matching the temperature and the seating/layout. It was full when 4 of us visited last night without feeling crowded, which is something very few venues get right. The table was well laid out with a steak knife already present, which I very much appreciate when dining at a steak house.
Now onto the food... The chicken supreme was excellent. The mash creamy, well seasoned and piped onto the plate in a fan shape, which showed me this chef takes real pride in plates. The broccoli stems positioned between the mash and the star of the plate, that wonderfully moist, delicately dressed chicken 👌🏾.
The two steak dishes (Ribeye and Mixed Grill) were very much faultlessly executive. Medium Raw, well seasoned,l and again that chicken which accompanied the mix grill was amazing. Chips and a light salad was in keeping the standard of everything else. I was so impressed that I completely forgot we had staters 😅: bread n olives, whitebait and calamari were all very nice and we were all too full to try dessert, so we have no option back to go back 😎.
So the bill... Including 2 bottles of red and a non-alcoholic drink, a very reasonable £190. A very...

The food was exceptional. We purchased the sharing plate for two, which included quite the selection of beef cuts and onion rings and individual plates containing chips and salad. The onion rings and chips were fried and produced excellently, not greasy, and stayed crispy. We chose medium rare for our cuts, and they were all cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth. I have never tasted beef this standard expertly cooked and presented. We were even offered some complimentary bread to help mop up what was left, a nice personal touch. The bar has indeed been raised, and we were left with a smile on our faces and our stomachs.
It's only a matter of time until we return, and being locals, this...
