The Borough Arms — Restaurant in England

Looks fab inside now, decor is really well done throughout. Staff at bar welcoming and efficient. Went to watch the World Cup Final. Good atmosphere, only about 11 people in the pub group of 6(us) , group of 3 and 2 others, ALL watching the football. BUT as soon as the match finished they turned the commentary sound off, left the TV's on and put on music!!!! We commented that we'd all like to keep listening to the match commentary and watch the cup presentation with sound but were told that the landlady had instructed that as soon as the match had finished the music should go on. The guy behind the bar put it on for another 10 minutes for us after lots of pleading, and the group of 3 offered to buy him a pint to thank him , but he then turned the music back on again 10 mins later. The only people in the pub were listening and watching the football, so no reason to not let that continue . What a shame. We left straight away to hot tale it home to watch it on our TV. If we had carried on in the pub we would have stayed and bought more drinks. But as it is when we left there were only the group of 3 people left inside the pub. Not looking after your customers, very disappointed and may not return because of that attitude. Pub may look good but we won't be back, need to work on your customer service, after all that is what will keep you in business. Its back to The Hungerford Arms. Incidentally I'm only leaving this review because a message came through on my phone saying how do you rate The Borough Arms after your visit!! But I'm pleased it did, spoilt the end of match...

SYLVI’S bar!!!!! We went there to a Drag Night, really looking forward to it too. We were there by 7.30 and got a table, most were reserved but this table did not have a reservation note on it. But we were rudely told to move by the manager/landlady. Then we sat somewhere else, without a reservation note and were told to move again. There was no where to sit, the landlady/manager was so rude and ignorant when she told us to move. We decided to leave. Safe to say that’s one pub we will never go into again. Appalling attitude to new customers. Did not feel welcome just felt in the way and surplus to other customers. One of us over 70 years of age, one of us over 60 years of age and one who recently recovered from a heart attack …. All of us told to ‘move’!!!!! Then she lies in her response saying we were sat at the table whilst the people who reserved the table were at the bar!!! What an absolute lie … we were sat there an hour before they even appeared and there was 2 tables with 1 reservation card on 1 of them. Just goes to prove how we were treated, lying about us, which made us look bad!!!! Obviously just out to look after her customers and not any others!!! So annoying when people lie to make their side of the story...

The perfect to visit. We went to get some lunch yesterday (Monday), delicious hand made pizza - genuinely best that we’ve had, first class, great taste, and beautifully cooked in their pizza oven. Great atmosphere, the manager is very welcoming and relaxed, made us feel very at home. Pub and facilities spotless, service swift and very competent. I can’t praise this place high enough. You don’t have to visit it but you’d be a complete plank not to!! Cheers...
