Probably the only bad restaurant experience we've ever encountered so far in Weymouth. Sometimes you get bad service or mediocre food and it's forgivable, but Enzo's got everything wrong right from the start. We had booked originally for 7pm for 6 of us (4x Adults, 2x kids). We received an email asking us if 8pm was okay. We said 'yes' but didn't hear anything back. This was early afternoon. So we called them and tried to confirm but the call handler didn't understand English too well and got confused. So another staff member took over and said 8pm "should be fine" but didn't reference our booking, leaving us wondering if she meant we should just turn up and "it will be fine", or if she meant for our actual booking. She didn’t clarify after asking. It seemed like too much of an effort to do this. We arrived at 19:50 to a queue of people waiting outside. We were asked if we had a booking, said 'yes' and gave our name. They seemed surprised that there were 6 of us. We then waited half an hour before we were shown to a table, which looked hastily put together, with a seat placed at the end of a sofa cramped up next to another table. Giving the benefit of the doubt, we'd heard good stuff about the restaurant, we weren't too fussed about this. A nice, friendly guy came and served us who was good with our kids. We asked for plain pasta with a side of cheese for them. It arrived with no cheese. When we asked for it a Server with glasses assumed we just meant the parmesan. We didn't, and we tried explaining that to him, but he didn't listen to us and decided we must have meant cheese sauce. And then brought us cheese sauce. We didn't want that. We just wanted some regular cheese on the side. But rather than listen, he got all fussy with us and slammed down the parmesan in front of our child. Then he walked away and muttered something under his breath with no apology. We were left feeling guilty, like we were asking for the world. It was a very simple, small request. The rest of our food came out in good time, except one which was wrong. Apparently, the correct one then arrived, but again didn't look like what we had ordered. The main ingredient was missing. Apparently (again), it was hidden under the rest of the food. It wasn't. So we had to send that food back for a third time after which we just gave up, because the same Server (with glasses) was extremely rude, and again offered no apology. He treated us with disdain and contempt. We decided not to order anything else as we'd lost trust in them and were appalled by this man's foul customer service. No one asked us if everything was okay with the rest of the food. We were just left with a very unpleasant and unwelcome feeling, compounded by them removing two finished plates when the rest of our party hadn't even finished their meal. They obviously wanted to get rid of us very quickly. The food was average. We might have enjoyed it if we treated normally. But the whole experience from start to end, of this poor excuse for a restaurant, meant we were more disgusted by it. Long story short, they were disorganised, unprofessional, and served poor quality food that wasn't worth what they charged us. There was absolutely nothing “authentic” about this...
Read moreAs a group of friends, we arranged a meal out at Enzos which was booked some time in advance. We have done this on numerous occasions at the same restaurant as we have always enjoyed our meals there, today however was a disaster!
It all began with us arriving 10 minutes prior to our booked time of 7:30 and were shooed back with the waving of hands because we were too early. We waited a few minutes and were shown to our table. Drinks were ordered and the gin and tonics arrived as gin and lemonades - perhaps an easy mistake and it was rectified so on to the meal. The 7 starters were all perfectly acceptable but when the main courses arrived it all fell apart.
A senior member of staff walked out in despair complaining the staff were not trained and he could not do it all himself. 4 of us ordered the Tournados Rossini which arrived with foul tasting pate which when removed from the steak gave off a terrible smell so we asked the waiter to smell it. The outcome was that the 'chef' insisted it was fine but smelt like it did because it was duck pate this later became the fault of the Madeira sauce. Having had this meal on a number of occasions in Enzos, as well as being a trained chef myself, we were all fully aware that something was wrong... it was off!
We asked to speak to the manager but the older man in the restaurant pointed towards the kitchen and when asked at the servery no-one in the kitchen admitted to being the manager despite the chef being the owner's son so it appears there was no-one actually managing the havoc that was reigning throughout the establishment.
We settled or bill for the starters and drinks we had had and even left a little extra as it is not the young staffs fault they have not been trained but we were not paying for the main courses that were not consumed although they even tried to charge for the gin and lemonades we did not order. There were no apologies only excuses!
We are now waiting to see if our insides are going to be affected but just in case I have retained two portions of the honking pate for environmental heath if necessary!
A restaurant that we will never return to now.
In reply to Enzo's response:-
I would like to clarify there was no aggression shown towards the staff, we even left the waiter a tip, the waiter was merely asked to smell the pate which stank (the waiter even screwed his nose up). So much so that I have two portions currently in my freezer and it still smells despite being deep frozen. I would also mention that the walk out was prior to us mentioning the pate although another member of our party had asked that the fish she was served was replaced with the veal that she had ordered! I would like to add that up until this meal we had always been loyal, returning customers but something has seriously changed including all of the old friendly...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant yesterday during our first night in Weymouth. We hadn’t booked a table but it didn’t seem busy either so we tried to get a table. Me, my husband and our 6 month old baby in a pram were waiting in the doorway and a young tall man (named Fabio I believe) approached us and straight away asked if we booked a table to which we answered now - straight away he said well then you have to sit outside (even after seeing us with a pram). This man was not very friendly at all and I told him I’m not sitting outside with my baby when it’s actually quite chilly. He said well then we would have to wait for a table further inside but still wouldn’t get a table indoors basically. After about 15 minutes the same man came back and said he will put a table out for us which was nice. This table was right by the kitchen and luckily our baby didn’t wake up with all the bell ringing and door slamming alongside bar staff seeming very heavy handed when they were doing things - but we were happy to have a table at least. Unfortunately, after ordering food we weren’t very impressed by the quality or flavour. I ordered a lasagne and there was literally one layer of meat amongst like 5-6 layers of lasagne sheets…. For the money they charge, this was a rip off and I have tasted much better in other Italian restaurants. We also noticed that the staff seemed rather irritated towards the chef as we overheard one saying “you need to slow down with the bell ringing” - which in all fairness, the waiter might have a bit of a point because that bell was ringing every few minutes and it didn’t look like staff could keep up. Overall, I wouldn’t say this place is worth visiting even if you booked a...
