Been here a few times over the last few weeks for the Euros, and I have to say what was once one of our favourite bars in town has quickly moved down to the bottom for me.
On our most recent visit we booked a section (2 tables) for 12 people to watch the football. Upon arrival we were told we didn't have a reservation (even though our name/booking was on the clipboard), but they would move things around to accommodate. We were put on a table of 6, so were already compromising what we had booked, but were just grateful to be seated (well, half of us anyway) as it was very busy, which we pre empted, hence the booking. We all bought drinks, and proceeded to sit at the table we were allocated. Another lady then came over and told us we were to move because there was a booking on that table. We explained that the first lady had seated us there because we had a booking, and they had accidentally messed up. She then said that's no problem, went away and got the security guard to escort us away from the table?! The security guard was very understanding, and brought the manager over who moved us to the table next to the one we had. Very frustrating as the people sat here (a party of 8) didn't even have a booking, yet we were being told to move and they weren't.
So all in all, a bit of a shambles. It's like nobody there knew what was going on. Instead of trying to sort it like the first lady, everyone else just wanted to get us to move. No point in booking here so wouldn't bother. All of this and the fact there was only 2 people on the bar, causing queues to go out the door just made the whole experience shocking, waiting nearly 40 minutes for a drink. They said 4 people had called in sick hence only 2 members of staff, but I beg to differ as it was the same for the semi final on Wednesday. Sadly won't be returning here, and I am gutted as mentioned this used to be a firm...
Read moreBad experience. Specifically booked a table for the hot rocks as the menu still advertising they do hot rocks and couldn't call to book or ask as Gloucester phone line wouldn't work so booked online on website. On the day of the booking I was told by a friend that they no longer do the hot rocks and it's not £1 for an extra steak anymore. Called up 6 times between me and my partner to confirm, but the Gloucester phone number doesn't even ring when you call, it just ends the call . So that's really great for the business and customers 👍. Had to walk all the way to Gloucester just to ask about hot rocks, when I could've saved time just by calling if they updated the menu and fixed the phone number. Finally got there and the staff confirmed they no longer do hot rocks. Super annoyed and disappointed, as I've wasted my time and could've booked somewhere else if I knew. When all that needed to happen, when new management took over was to update their menus and sort out their phone line. This left such a bad taste in my mouth I Probably won't come back here anymore. Such a shame as Gloucester used to be good and had their signature hot black rocks which made people...
Read moreThis was a great disappointment it cost just under £100 for five of us. On arrival they explained their Covid-19 procedures and we were told to select a table, which we did. We made our choices and we went to the bar to place our order. Which we did 2 sharing platters of loaded nachos, 2 fish and chips, 2 chicken burgers and a steak and ale pie. The loaded nachos were a BIG disappointment the nachos were dry and flavourless there was not a lot of cheese, no guacamole, a small amount of salsa and loads of a tasteless sour cream dip. Although this arrived at the table quickly they then left and finally returned approximately 40-45 minutes later to clear. We then waited a further 30 minutes before getting our mains. The food was not worth the wait. The fish was over cooked, the chicken burgers were tough and the batter was burnt and the pie was watery and tasteless. The restaurant was practically empty and had about 8 tables outside. We could see food being taken outside but nothing coming our way. It is without a doubt that we will not ever be returning for...
