A really popular spot throughout the year. Weymouth beach has everything you expect from a British seaside town; sandy beach, lapping waves, donkeys, ice creams - the lot. During the season there is lots to do and on hot days the beach will get really busy. There are many different events on such as car meets, competitions and the fun fair. The sand sculpture (towards the Pavillion) is always free to admire and changes over time and the arcades are nearly always open. Great toilet facilities, lots of cafes along the front and right next to the main shopping area, everything is within walking distance. The service busses and caravan sites busses all stop along the seafront and you can ride the landtrain along its recently extended route (during season). Out of season, the beach is popular with dog walkers and groups playing football and games as well as occasional swimmers braving the cold water. The famous Clock Tower sits midway along the Esplanade and is an excellent meeting point and viewpoint. Further up Weymouth beach towards Preston direction, the soft sand turns to pebble beach and is a popular area for some summer evening fishing and BBQs. There are also lots of tap water points all along the sand and...
Read moreWe visited here outside of the school holiday season, and it was still quite busy, so I would imagine the beach would be extremely busy during peak season.
There are sections dedicated to dogs and sections where dogs cannot go on the beach, but they are clearly signposted. There is a larger dog section near the pavilion end, which is where we took our dog.
The beach itself was clean, there was a manned lifeguard section where you could swim in the sea between the designated flags, and there were free drinking water stations dotted along the sea front.
There were not a vast number of toilets available along the seafront that we found and the ones we did find did not seem to be attended often by their appearance, so this may be something to consider.
There were also rides, donkeys and plenty of shops and food outlets along the seafront. There was plenty of paid parking at the pavilion end for the time of year we visited but I'd anticipate in peak season though this would all get taken pretty quickly.
All in all, it was a pleasant afternoon for the time of year we visited, but I'm not sure I'd go back during peak season as it would be too...
Read moreRight it's getting 1 single ⭐ On the grounds the beach patrols don't enforce some of the thinking it lays out. For the 2nd time this year I have been hit by some idiot (s) on bikes on the prom path. When the signs clearer state no riding at these times. I am sick of getting in fall outs with these sorts because they don't enforce things because they are too soft. Dogs (speaking of dogs ! Dogs and dogs ! Some owners shouldn't even have a dog) can go unnoticed on the beach too. (Sort it out council then I will up my review back to 5 ⭐) Mainly I Love the place 😍 It's by the sea 🤩 What's not too ❤️ Has all your needs and more, is close too the town centre and train station. I would say as with most Hotspot British seaside places. Come the summer it gets busy some 🥳 This review could be so much more "A Local res "The dogs, dogs, dogs and dog thinking for the beach end of the season is unfair on those who ain't a fan of dogs. Totally unfair thinking and makes the beach less enjoyable as dogs are running about everywhere and most owners ain't in control of their dogs like they seem to think. Standards have so dropped the...
