A beautiful sunny morning and our first after a wonderful week of walking the Cumbria Way with smiley faces at every place we stayed and stopped. We arrived about 10:30 and I side a sign asks you to wait to be seated. When we were approached I asked if we could possibly sit at the sunny table by the window as there were two tables for two people. I was abruptly told that wasn't possible as apparently some of the cafe was closed off. We were given a table inside and then ordered a bap and fruit loaf and two coffees from the till area. The coffees arrived after a few minutes later but the food was at least another ten minutes by which time we had drunk the coffee in order that it was hot. I prefer the coffee and food together but didn't think I needed to ask for that to happen. After we'd been there about 15 minutes a single gentleman came in and sat at the sunny table and was not asked to move. It all left me feeling slightly intolerant of the manner of the employer or owner of this cafe. The coffee was okay. The bap quite tasty. The fruit loaf is the same as Starbucks with strawberry jam in a packet. No...

My girlfriend and I waited for nearly 15 mins before the front of house asked us whether we wanted a seat or not. Everyone else behind us was seated straight away. Whether this is racism or simply lack of customer service I’m not sure. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

UPDATE

Think you should speak to your staff, we waited at the front in front of the sign waiting to be seated. Your lady staff ignored us and didn’t even say a hello but continued to serve. After 15 mins of waiting we was rudely asked if we wanted a table (after standing for 15 mins), he then seated us without asking where we wanted to sit but everyone else was given the option. Honestly I was disgusted by the service we received.

We was not looking at the menu on the side, they saw us and ignored us.

I will not be removing any of my comments from Facebook as you directly covered for your staff and didn’t even bother to acknowledge a potential customer whose travelled from London.

Disgusted with the racism...

Came here this morning for breakfast and was seated promptly and given a menu. There were three staff at the front of the house as we waited for at least 10 minutes whilst each staff member walked past and never even asked if we wanted a drink. My gf had to get up and ask for a coffee. Extremely slow service especially when you just want a quick cup of coffee before your breakfast.. but then to wait 15 minutes and did do not even get a drink poor poor service. I even said to the chef we are going to leave now as we have not been served yet and we've been sitting for ages. He gave me a wink as if to say I don't really give two scoops.... The menu is extremely overpriced as well... I would definitely avoid this place or whoever reads this! please avoid , there's a much nicer cafe just around the corner... And guess what we got a drink of coffee in under...

We stopped in for breakfast with a party of 7, the staff was so sweet and accommodating every step of the way. My son ordered the spiced Chai latte but wanted to know if he could get it iced and the gentleman taking our order said... I will figure it out and he brought out a stunning iced Chai latte that our son said was one of the best he's ever had. We've been back in the UK for a week as of today and my husband has been aching for a full english, he ordered the big boss and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The Benedicts were delicous... everything was delicious. The restaurant is cute and cozy with it's neon Famhouse sign and pom-pom tipped bunting, and delightful cafe jazz playing softly in the background. The staff even ran back and found us the brand breakfast tea you serve so we can stock up before our journey back.

September 2024: Spotted this place whilst passing through Kendal and decided to stop off for some lunch. Lovely cafe with great selection of food and drinks. After being shown to the table, you then need to order food at the counter - some people might not like this but I do as it means you can order without being put under pressure. Food was delicious and well presented. Venue itself had a relaxed atmosphere and was very busy. Only downside is that there was only one toilet and the tables were quite close together. Menu is reasonably priced, given the quality. Free wi-fi was available. Highly recommend a visit if in Kendal.

A lunch time spot that we took a chance on, no regrets at all, a pleasant welcome, the atmosphere is cosy and it is also dog friendly. A varied selection on the menu which would please most people. Food cooked fresh to order without a ridiculous wait, we ordered the giant Yorkshire pudding with sausage and mash from the specials board and a ciabatta and soup deal, everything was spot on and the soup was brilliant. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
