Disappointed first timers won’t be returning.

Heard some good things about this place so suggested to my partners family to have a last minute curry. Booked online 4 hours before and then turned up. In an empty restaurant we were put by the toilet were my partner could see into the toilet and when the next table shortly arrived, my parents in law then had to keep moving their chairs so people to get to the loos (I stress that there were multiple empty tables in the restaurant).

We asked the waitress if we could move, she went and came back and said sorry no. I pointed out that there was a 4 top nearby and she responded “someone will be there in 15-30-45 minutes”. The table behind us also asked to move who were an 8 top and were told no - despite there being another 8 top that was never seated the whole time we were there.

We then went to the manager and asked to be moved again to be told by the manager that “because we booked late that’s why we are sat there” really rudely, and the person that served our food was rude and disinterested in customer care.

Food was okay, some parts were fine, some were quite bland but good portions. Both me and my partner ordered a ‘1’ chilli dish and mine and his dishes were very different in spice so I would double check with the waiter before ordering.

To top this experience off other tables that entered after us were being offered a CHOICE of tables, I saw this on 3 different occasions. So obviously, the excuse of people being fixed booked onto table is a lie. They just could not be bothered to move us. The 4 top that I had pointed out to the waitress was not even filled until we had asked for the bill and 1 hour and 15 after we had first asked to move. The 8 top that the table behind us wanted to moved to, was not filled in the whole time there.

We are upset and feel as if we were not looked after, if every single table was full we could have just sucked it up but there were multiple empty tables that were not filled with our time there and the staff reluctancy to move us made us uncomfortable and feel unwelcome. My in laws have recently moved to the area and were looking for a regular curry house to go to, I guess the...

First of all this isn’t an “Indian Restaurant “ , absolutely NOT- it’s a Bangladeshi cuisine restaurant - that is SO NOT Indian Cuisine , whatsoever !! We ordered lamb kebabs and I have never in my life had kebabs served with an omelette over those kebabs, atleast never in any Indian city?!! I really urge the owner to make note of this and amend accordingly if he wants to term these as Indian Kebabs :) it’s certainly not the way an Indian would enjoy their kebabs :) Period. Secondly, that so called Poppadams were served microwaved versions and if that was not enough , we were surprised to see that we were forced to pay for a “pickle-tray” , like really??? why?? when did we actually order that , I wonder, so that was certainly a big put off for me! Instead of being charged 95 pence each for 2 poppadams , I was billed £2.95 extra for that pickle tray .. anyway.. I learnt my lesson there. I certainly liked the plain naans , those were really great to have but the lamb dish (with again an Indian city’s name attached to it , dont really understand why though!)was not great and quite sweet with loads of tinned tomatoes as the base of that curry- very mediocre taste and I don’t recommend anybody going for a rajasthani, delhi, kolkata, mumbai blah blah curries pls.. There aren’t any such curry served in India. Excepting Goa lamb Vindaloo! And lastly , the kebabs were served with tamarind chutney!!! why why why ?? why such injustice with a humble kebabs? omlettes and tamarind chutneys are no match with kebabs - it has to be a mint chutney with...

My wife and I have a weekly curry from the Ganges Restaurant in Royal Wootton Bassett, and whenever the whole family come round, we all order, and really enjoy, a curry from there. The online ordering process is simple and clear, with most dishes detailed so that you can be sure what you're ordering. We are also entitled to a free delivery, which makes looking forward to a scrumptious meal even easier. The driver is always polite and friendly, and the meal arrives well packed and hot. The food itself is nicely spiced, full of flavour and there's a huge choice of interesting dishes, as well as all the traditional favourites. In addition, when ordering online, one can leave the chef simple comments which have always been honoured. My son doesn't like mushrooms, so a request, and he knows he can enjoy his curry without any surprises. I prefer a really hot curry, so I ask for this, and that is exactly what I get. No errors or mistakes, no skimpy portions, nothing ever missing - perfect. With a loyalty scheme in place, and an owner, Mijan, who is interested, and responsive, to feedback sent to him, The Ganges is hard to beat. This restaurant cooks delicious, quality food, and is good value for money - it comes highly...

This resturante has a lot to live up to it is run by the grandson of the famous Mr Ali of the kyhber resturant the first in swindon in 1962 later by his son who is sadly no longer with us But the ganges has a life of its own you receive a warm welcome friendly staff ready to look after you The food as you would expect delicious The decor a little more modern as you would expect but homage is paid to tradition it terms of art You dont have to live in Wooton Bassett go out out for a tasty meal

Had dinner here on a Saturday night whilst staying over in Royal Wootton Bassett. Picked this one over the other Indian in the town simply because of their Scores On The Door was higher being 5 and positive reviews. Clearly a family run business. Nice restaurant (toilet could be better). Staff where attentive and the food was nice. There is free parking outside on the High Street after 6pm until 8am and there is a large car park nearby in the Sainsbury's Car Park.

This is our "go to" curry house. Today was their 30th birthday. The food is so tasty especially the chef special Murgh-e-azam. But more than that, the owners, Mr Chowdhury, and his late father Enam, have given thousands of meals to those in need in Wiltshire during COVID and supported the poor with charitable ventures in India - another great reason to support local independent restaurants.
