George & Dragon — Restaurant in England

We searched for somewhere online to eat a roast dinner and the George and Dragon seemed to fit the bill. We were greeted by friendly staff at the bar, firstly we ordered drinks before looking at the menu. That's where it all started to go bad for us, the food took so long to come out it started to turn the relaxed atmosphere into an annoying one. So after waiting for nearly an hour, surely the food would be cooked to perfection....... hmmm absolutely not! The garlic bread was chewy, the meat with the roast dinner was most probably heated up as it was chewy too. Veg?? What veg, there was stodgy soggy carrots not fit for an animal. I've never been served such a disgusting roast dinner in my whole life! I will not be eating in here again!! I feel sorry for the staff having to explain to customers the reason for such...

The pub was very quiet. We ordered our meal at bar. Wanted a cappuccino they didn't have one had to have latte? Food arrived my husband had fish n chips was told his butter would be brought for his bread had to ask again for it. I had chicken pie cut into it and it was stone cold it was taken away and I had to wait over 20mins fior a fresh one to be cooked by the time my dinner arrived my husband was finished his meal. We got an apology from the bar person we were not offered a refund or a complimentary drink or dessert for the inconvenience. If the chef can't cook pub food they obviously are not a very good chef. Will never go to the George and Dragon again wouldn't like to see what the food or service would be...

I've had mixed experiences here. I've had some really great food for very reasonable prices, but other times I've had to wait over an hour for the food to arrive, which is much too long. The main area of the pub is decorated well, and there's a nice outdoor area with a lot of seating and overhead cover. They also have a decent large room upstairs available to hire, which has its own bar and space for a DJ and dance floor. However, the toilets are awful. The cubicles are badly lit, covered in graffiti and there's mould on the walls. It's fine to go to for a drink or three, but I generally think twice about going...
