This is our second time at the golden curry. We returned the second time as they are able to cater for our little one. During our first visit, my husband ordered lamp chops and was told they had run out ( odd as it was mid week) though, we didn’t think much of in fairness but noticed the service we received was much less personal than some of the other diners in the restaurant, nonetheless we enjoyed our mid week meal. Upon our second visit, my husband asked for lamp chops once again as this is a dish he particularly enjoys, we were told they had run out which was odd as they had only been open half an hour and they were certainly not busy at all, at this stage, we did question this amongst ourselves. We ordered our starters and mains but these were also bought out together, this felt as if they just wanted us out. When we asked for our mains to be taken back whilst we begin eating our starters, the waiter only took back the curry, leaving the naan and chapati on our table ( we ate these cold eventually). Our son’s finished plate was not removed from the table and we were not asked if we wanted our drinks topped up either. It was shocking to see as we witnessed the waiters sat around the corner behind a table, idle ( as they were really not that busy). Surprisingly, all the other diners that followed us, were given a much warmer welcome than ourselves. Definitely will not be returning after this experience. It is extremely obvious they prefer a certain type of customer over others here at the...
Read moreBeen meaning to try Gooden Curry for years, usually eat/order at the Viceroy in Windsor. Finally tried a delivery from Golden Curry after a day of decorating and sadly, extremely disappointed with the quality of the food, I haven't even finished it yet as I felt compelled to leave a review. Onion bhaji's are very very dry, crumbly and flaking, like they have been cooked hours ago and kept warm/reheated. Mint sauce accompanying the popadoms is luminous green, akin to playdoh, doesn't look appetising, so I will bin that. The keema rice is pretty tasteless and also has luminous green rice thrown in, I'm seeing a pattern here. Lamb jalfrezi is totally bland and apparently devoid of spices or chillies. And the garlic naan is dry, crunchy and again feels like it's been sitting for a few hours prior to being delivered. Very disappointing meal overall, the only redeeming feature is the speed of delivery, although I would have preferred to wait and have a decent meal. Really poor for nearly £50 and I will not be using Gooden Curry again, in person or for delivery. So...
Read moreThe restaurant was recommended to me by a personal friend. I was looking for something that offers good food, good service and authentic experience for my family’s visit in the UK. The food was mediocre, lacks taste and the portions are very small. It seems like the dishes are different colours but taste the same. The breads were very good though. The prices are expensive for what it is. The restaurant smells unpleasantly. I was sold on the promise of magic shows for my little cousin, and the experience, but other than taking our order, we did not see any of the waiters come up and even ask if our food was ok. I asked if the 3 portions of rice would be enough between the 4 of us and the waiter offered no comment other than just shrugging his shoulders. I don’t really like to leave bad comments, so I also told the owner at the end that the experience was very disappointing and he didn’t seem too bothered. Overall, the most disappointing meal/ experience...
