This was, hands down, the worst pub I’ve ever been to. When I arrived, I asked straight away if they were ok with my 2 dogs, which they say yes to and guided me to the garden. There were no menus on several tables so I had to take one from another table, only to discover that they only serve pizza for food. All over their drinks and pizza menu, there are encouragements to use their order and pay app - which I did. Ordering an aperol spritz and a pizza. After waiting 30 minutes with nothing, I had to go to the bar (with the dogs) where I was told that: the app doesn’t work specifically, it takes payment but doesn’t send them the order Nowhere in the pub or on the menus is there mention of that. I was asked to show the order and was then told they didn’t have aperol spritz (no Prosecco) and they would “make something similar” which meant they replaced the Prosecco with a cheap white wine. The pub has several signs advertising it as dog friendly, but when I asked for a water bowl, it never happened. When the pizza arrived, another 30 minutes later, it was served in a box, with no plate or cutlery, and the cheese on it was barely cooked. I don’t think I’ve had a worse hospitality...
Read moreIf you do one thing in Eton, make it visiting the Henry VI. Live music, dog friendly, incredible staff and fantastic food - The pizzas are ah-ma-zing.
The Henry is one of the few local pubs that always shows the sport, and other 4 different screens (two inside, two outside), so there is no need to crowd around. The inside seating is spacious with room to dance when there is live music, which they always have on!
The garden is beautifully furbished with pillows and heat lamps for those chiller nights. These are placed under the wooden awning and outside of this, there is a beautiful decked area with more than enough seating.
In the summer, they open up an outdoor bar with BBQ to accommodate for the large number of customers wanting to enjoy the rays and always make sure their customers are happy and well...
Read moreWent on monday night to watch a footy game. A friend booked a table for 4 people and was told a deposit of £10 per table was required as we had to eat if a table was reservered (this is a monday night for a championship game...). We arrived and no table had been reserved and was told its very quiet so sit anywhere...there was one table in a very draughty place with a decent view of one of the tv's. Other tv's had people sitting at them including the prime tv where people who were not at all interested in footy were sitting. Had to ask three times for the sound to be put on. The pizzas we had were very average and although quiet the clearing of the tables was slow in the least. Bar person very friendly. Been in Summer and good vibe but this...
