One of the worst restaurant I have ever been. They claim to be authentic nepalese restaurant but their food can't be anywhere near it. When you eat at a restaurant it's not only food you pay for but service too. The service was poor and one of the worst we have ever experienced. The waiters were good and responsive but the so called senior member of staff dosen't seem to know the basic of hospitality.
We went there for a family dinner while being on a holiday. We appreciate that they accommodated us without reservation but it wasn't a favour as we were paying for the food. The way we got treated and the quality of the food would make this restaurant one of the worst I have ever been.
For any nepalease who wants to visit this place for MOMO and another popular nepalese dish: PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY!!!
PS: The one star I have given them is for the hard working waiters having to deal with one of the rudest boss we...
Read moreWe visited Gorkha Inn over the weekend while staying in Torquay and had a pleasant experience. The restaurant was quite quiet for a weekend evening, which made for a relaxed and unhurried meal.
We tried a few different dishes — the chicken momos were tasty and comforting, and the chowmein and chicken fried rice were both satisfying. The garlic naan was fresh and fluffy, perfect for scooping up sauces. Everything was cooked well and nicely presented, though nothing particularly blew us away — just good, honest food.
The staff were really friendly and welcoming, which definitely added to the experience. There’s also a takeaway option, which is handy if you’re staying nearby or just want a cosy night in.
Overall, Gorkha Inn is a nice, no-frills place to enjoy some Nepalese and Indian dishes in Torquay. Worth checking out if you’re in the area and craving something warm...
Read moreOn a Tuesday afternoon after a long hike we went for a wander to get some food. After checking for a street with alot of restaurants on it we were surprised that Gurkha was the only one that was open and boy were we lucky! We were met with great service. I introduced my partner to momo's and we had a dansak (milder than I'm used to but so tasty) along with coconut rice and some other things to pick at. They brought out this most epic pashwari naan I've ever had. It was huge and moist but crispy on the outside and sweet on the inside. I couldn't stop talking about it ! The choice of beers was great also! The momo's were fantastic and reminds me of Nepal (they are a spicy dumpling and can be pan fried too). Honestly a lucky accident we found this place but completely exceeded our expectations!...
