Certain 'dog owners' using the area are not controlling their 'pets' properly, in that certain 'pet dogs' are 'urinating' on the clothing left on the local promenade as 'bathers' swim in the sea during late afternoons.. 🤔
2023 was officially the worst year for sewage dumping on record into our seas and rivers.
There can be hundreds of thousands dumping incidents in total around the UK, wreaking havoc on the environment, and endangering wildlife and public health.. 🤔
Sewage Spills have been increasing; our precious countryside and coastline is being destroyed and swimmers are falling sick.. 🤔
Here in our bay, Torre Abbey beach can have as many as 20 sewage discharges between January and April every year.. 🤔
ABBEY SANDS wildlife observers can view local wildlife species during seasonal months of the year, using binoculars you might even see Gannets and White Throated Divers, Cormorants, Shags, Black Backed Gulls, (lesser and greater), Herring Gulls, Turnstones, Oyster Catchers, (these can often be heard during the hours of darkness), with occasional rarities visiting the area.. 👀

It's easy to access: steps with a handrail lead down to the sands, and there's also a wheelchair accessible ramp next to the promenade bridge. The clean reddish sand, with hardly any shingle, is perfect for young children to run about and play. When I was there, there were lots of people paddling in the sea. Great views of Torquay and all along the coast. There's a beach café where you can buy a coffee or an alcoholic drink, and there are also paddleboards for hire, kayaks, and snorkelling equipment. Abbey Park and Meadow are just across the road, and it's only a short walk from the harbour and other seafront...
