Well, the Fairy Trail is certainly a fantastic achievement for the local adult volunteers and children who have made the walk so enjoyable and we are so glad we explored the path starting at the iron gate by the bridge.
We are in our 60's and thoroughly enjoyed the magical warm and still summer evening walk along the riverbank. We just wish we had our grandchildren with us to experience the excitement it brought back to us. Talk about turning back the clock of time, it certainly worked for us as we were transported back to our childhood !
Looking high and low for the next fairy home hidden away in some secluded spot at ground level or in a hole in a tree many feet from the ground had my wife and I eagerly seeing who could spot the next. 😅
On the return journey we faced the wrath of the Pixies in the form of gnats and other biting insects but it was all part of the mystical experience. And not to be missed.........or so we told...
Read moreAs a tourist and lover of the faery visit this place was a must. For me was so magical find the tiny doors, read the signs, look for houses, was like a game. Thank you people for make this trail so lovely and full of surprises and magic. And I believe there's real fairies and other fae creatures living there, when I was walking (I visited the trail 3 years ago on autumn). I've found the house of the watcher it has a "huge" figure of a frog, immediately I heard something on the grass very close to the house then a frog -a real one- appear, so I know I meet the real watcher and that's was pure magic.

Read moreThis trail should never have been allowed to become a ‘public destination’ without a consultation with residents who live in this area. This is a Conservation Area and is now heavily trafficked by the public. It’s noisy and homeworkers can’t work without constant noise disturbance. The benches at the entrance now attract homeless and drug users. Encouragement of people foraging is also destroying the food supply for all the wildlife which live in this area.
