Jan's Kitchen — Restaurant in England

Our 1st visit to Jan's Kitchen for a spot of lunch was 100% perfect. As far as Cafe food goes you can't do much better! We were greeted by warm smiles, friendly service and a very clean environment! We didn't have to wait long for a 'good quality' pot of tea followed shortly after by a delicious Lemon Crayfish Jacket Potato, super-fresh salad, authentic tasting mayonnaise and crunchy coleslaw! To be honest it's a combination of food we wouldn't ordinarily choose but tasted fantastic!! The Cafe was nice and busy so didn't lack atmosphere.... I guess the only picky criticism could be that a bit of background music would be a nice touch. Update: Sadly dropped one star because the last three times we've visited we've been unable to get a table. I still like the place, but because it's a bit of trek for us and it's difficult to get seated, we probably won't be back.

Original review: Lovely little cafe. Very, very reasonably priced food - four of us were fed and watered for £21. The soup and a sandwich is extremely good value at just £5. For years this establishment was a bit of a cyclists mecca , it wasn't the best cafe and was getting a bit shabby but always seemed a handy meeting point or to drop in for a post ride cuppa. Then it closed down and stood empty for a while. Thankfully the new proprietors moved in but not before a much needed makeover. The decor isn't the only thing what had much needed improvement though. The menu is full of tasty delights, coffee is great and service is friendly and first class.
