Kansas Fried Chicken — Restaurant in England

I ordered a 6-piece chicken meal with gravy, which cost about £11—higher than the average £9.50. Unfortunately, this meal didn’t include a drink, which was disappointing.

The shop’s atmosphere was lackluster, with only two customers dining in and no one waiting in line. The server was friendly and efficient in taking my order.

The decor felt outdated, reminiscent of chicken shops from the 1990s to late 2000s.

There was a discrepancy between the prices on the board and what I was charged. The menu listed the chicken meal with chips and gravy at £4.99, suggesting a total of £7-8, but I ended up paying over £11. The menu board needs updating.

The chicken looked appealing but had no distinctive flavor—no noticeable seasoning. The texture varied, with some parts stale and others extremely wet and greasy. The breast was hard, crunchy, and dry.

The gravy had a jelly-like appearance and an unusual aftertaste. The chips were soggy but had decent flavor, though nothing remarkable.

A few hours after the meal, I still had a strange aftertaste and experienced bloating, which I don’t usually get from similar meals.

Overall, while I wouldn’t say to avoid this place, don’t expect anything exceptional or worth a second visit. Thanks to the team at Kansas for the service, but I won’t be returning.

This Kansas does not even taste like Kansas. I'm telling you, if you want Kansas go to burnage or even Rusholme, those stores actually taste like kansas. The batter they put on their chicken is completely different to the batter they use on in the actual real Kansas stores. I think they are not buying it direct from the supplier or they are watering it down with something else. The food is not bad, it's just a generic fried chicken shop. But it should not have the Kansas name on the front. Plus they never have ribs, but there wings are really tasty, better than a real Kansas's. Go there try it out and then try Kansas in burnage and come to your own...

As mentioned in previous reviews, by far the best Kasas that I have tried. Initially started going here around 4 years ago and I can say the quality service and price has never been anything but spot on. Amazing value for money in 2021. Fillet burger meal for £3.49 just as an example, and not the pre battered half cooked fillets, but fresh big fillets that come out the sides of the more then generous 5” bun! I get it spicy and can say taste wise I’d easily put it on par with Florida’s. Hard working staff including the owner who always seems to be very much hands. Would defiantly recommend...
