Great and tasty Thai food in the heart of Newbury!

The owners and staff of the place have really got it right. When one walks into the place, one notices that it is decorated with just the right amount of "Thainess" for it to feel authentic. The background music seems to also have been chosen to put everyone at ease.

The food was great with just the right amount of choice without being overwhelming long. Service was quick though it was a Wednesday so it was also quiet and relaxing.

The food definitely exceeded expectations! The spiciness is made just right to make one feel that it is truly Thai while not overwhelming the other wonderful tastes of the remaining herbs and spices. It is clear that the chef takes his job seriously. We had the fish cakes, the Massaman curry, the Tom yum, the jungle curry and the Larb Gai. They were all explosions of tastes with the meats cooked just right.

Kudos also to the choice of serving water in glass bottles and drinks with no plastic straw. This is a wonderful decision and shows that the owners are carefully thinking things through. Thank you for being such a great example of how businesses can make a difference.

I have ordered food from this place using the Just Eat website. Somehow, although there was a drop down with addresses and I have selected mine, it never registered the house number. The delivery driver marker the order as delivered and ....he just took it for himself. Never made any attempts to contact us ,the restaurant..no reasonable attempts whatsoever. Upon contacting the restaurant itself, we have offered the go pick it up ourselves, since we are almost £50 short and no food, but they've refused. They've also told us to deal with Just Eat ourselves. After insisting with several phone calls ,they've finally contacted just eat and asked for a refund ( which will take up to 7 days.) I understand it's not really the fault of the restaurant, but customer service was extremely poor. Also, they have marked an order on their system that they had no evidence was delivered. Khon Kaen is my favourite restaurant in Newbury. Quite simply, the food is delicious, the atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are polite and friendly and it is completely unpretentious.

The beef Massaman is to-die-for! I always says to my husband that I am going to try another dish on the menu but as soon as I spot number 30, I order it yet again: I am weak! My partner and I have had to start ordering three mains just so that I can try something else but still have my Massaman!

We always enjoy our evenings here and will visit time...
