The opening hours are great, Sun 12-9, Mon-Thurs 12-10, Fri-Sat 12-10.30. I went on a Thursday at 6 pm. I was a walk-in and they were able to seat me (a party of one...sad I know! 😂). Other tables had been booked, a total of 9 in all before/whilst I was there, couples, families and larger parties. You can either sit at the top part where the entrance and bar are or ask for a table down out the back, which is very spacious and light, where I chose to sit.
I had plans later so I didn't want to stuff myself and feel uncomfortable so when ordering the food I based my decisions on similar options at a local Italian restaurant I used to frequent, thinking of their portion sizes. This led me to not choose a starter and thought the main I had chosen would suffice. I chose the Spaghetti con Polpette, spaghetti with homemade beef meatballs and baby tomatoes in an onion and garlic sauce, finished with basil. The food was well presented on the plate, all made fresh. However, I was expecting four meatballs as a main but only received two, I should have asked when ordering. The meatballs were a good size and nicely seasoned. The spaghetti was cooked just right. The sauce was just right to accompany the rest. I did take up their offer of parmesan and black pepper. I ordered a large glass of the house red and was pleasantly surprised how good it was, robust, fruity, with little tannins, so it worked well with my meal. As I mentioned earlier, I was expecting a larger portion and as etiquette doesn't allow for ordering a starter after a main I did decide to have a dessert, something I generally don't do. I chose the warm brownie with vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce. The portion was of a good size and tasty. The wine also worked well with all the chocolate. I rounded the meal off with a glass of Frangelico, a sweet hazelnut/herb liqueur.
Pricing...I would say that the prices are certainly on par with other restaurant pricing. My meal and drinks came to £34.
The restaurant is family owned (yes, they are Italian), the waiting staff are all very polite, attentive and helpful. Overall, I enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant and would certainly consider going on a regular basis, infact I have already booked myself in again, this time with some friends...though this time I shall...
Read moreHad a lovely meal at La Vita last night for a friends birthday. My first time having a meal here. The service was very good and attentive, the food was really nice with great flavours. I had Calamari starter and then the garlic prawns as a main and then the lemon cheesecake for pudding. All the food was very fresh and devine!
Only negative was...its a pity about the young parents sitting at another table who let their kid run an absolute mock climbing on the restaurant furniture, up on the tables. It really is very selfish to expect other diners trying to enjoy their evening out to have to put up with this and non stop loud screaming and mucking around and encouraging the kid to carry on. Perhaps McDonalds would suit you better, not a lovely restaurant like this.
I will be back to treat to husband soon though. Tx for a lovely meal. Very nice...
Read moreWent for dinner last night me and my boyfriend, and the food was so good but the service really let it down. The women were so rude, halfway through our meal and the waitress comes over and grabs the glasses and walks away. Doesn’t ask, are you finished or would you like more drinks? My partner had to grab attention and the waitress looked like she wanted to knock him out, such poor attitude made us feel like we were a pain. My partner got up to pay the bill and the girl refilling the drinks fridge just continued to sit on the floor and ignore him for about 5 minutes. Until my partner asked can I pay for the bill? And again the attitude was like we were bothering them to work.. really disappointed as the food was so good. Don’t think we’ll be coming back again. Restaurants really lack good customer service now and that...
