Ah, Clevedon—a place where the Bristol Channel’s waters glimmer like the North Sea but with a bit more warmth, and the smell of fish and chips mingles with the sea air. But there’s something more than just Victorian piers and ice cream to write home about now. Enter Limehouse, a cocktail and burger joint nestled in the refined environs of Hill Road. Yes, Hill Road, where the buildings are as grand as your grandmother’s china, and the shops as charming as they are eyebrow-raisingly expensive.
Now, you might think that Clevedon, with its air of the sedate and seaside-y, wouldn’t know what to do with a burger that isn’t wrapped in greasy paper and handed to you at the beach. But Limehouse pulls it off with aplomb. This is not your run-of-the-mill Americana burger shack, complete with the obligatory red, white, and blue bunting and a jukebox spinning ‘50s hits. No, Limehouse is more New York Bar than Route 66 Diner—dark woods, moody lighting, and a cocktail menu that promises (and delivers) more than just an old-fashioned Old Fashioned.
As for the burgers, they’re meaty affairs that speak of more than just beef and bread slapped together. These are patties with a purpose, buns with backbone. Someone in the kitchen clearly cares—perhaps too much, but in the best possible way. You can taste the thought, the hours spent perfecting the balance of juicy, charred meat and condiments that don’t just sit there but complement, like the bassline in a Miles Davis track. It’s jazz in a bun. And no, there isn’t a lick of Stars and Stripes in sight. Because they don’t need it.
On a balmy evening, there’s nothing better than grabbing a seat outside, where you can sip a cocktail—perhaps something with a name as long and convoluted as a Dickens novel—and watch the sun sink below the horizon. The service? Friendly, attentive, and just the right side of chatty. The vibe? Well, let’s just say it’s as refreshing as that first sip of a perfectly shaken martini.
Limehouse is a surprise, but the kind you welcome with open arms—a sophisticated little corner in a quaint seaside town. If you find yourself in Clevedon and fancy something more than a Mr. Whippy by the water, this place is well worth the detour. And frankly, it’s worth the...

It's been a while since I last came here, and here's an updated review. Extremely attractive, contemporary decor, and to me, it has a lot of an American gastropub feel to it.
It has a musician's 'open mike' spot and a curry night, eat as much as you want for only £15...wow!
From previous evening visits: I remember that it was an exciting atmosphere in the evening and the musician singing and playing was certainly very good..
It is very funky, with great music in the background, and the staff were amazing, very friendly, welcoming, and attentive.
A big thank you and shout out to Lottie, who was Five Stars and an amazing person yet yet again.
Congratulations on your appointment as manager, Lottie. Well done and really proud of you! It was lovely to see you again, even though you didn't recognise me....lol.
Once you knew who I was, you again made me feel wonderfully comfortable, relaxed, and welcomed. Thank you 😊
My chicken, bacon, and avocado foccacia bread with the trimmings was very tasty, freshly made, and delicious. The pint of Jute Salt Ale on tap was perfect and accompanied my meal fantastically. What a pity I don't live on Hill Road or Clevedon. Otherwise, this gastro establishment would certainly be my very favourite to go place!
To you all at the Limehouse, I certainly hope that your boss or the owner looks after you all! You all are no doubt the 'A Team' that makes us, new or regular clients very grateful with your hospitality and excellent service....especially LOTTIE. It was lovely meeting you too, SCARLET. Thanks for the "get to know chat. "...
Highly recommend this gastronomic delight serving traditional British and American cuisine. Definitely will be back again next time I'm...

We visited this restaurant as a group of 6, 3 of us ordering a chicken burger. Unfortunately, all three burgers were far too spicy to enjoy — and this wasn’t just a matter of preference. The spice level was overwhelming, to the point that none of us could finish our meals. The menu made no clear mention that the burgers would be this intensely spicy, nor were we warned in advance.
When we raised our concerns with the staff, we were offered a mere £4 discount on the total bill. Given that all three meals were practically inedible, this felt more like a token gesture than a meaningful resolution.
We paid the remaining bill, but we politely explained that the discount didn’t reflect the seriousness of the issue. Rather than acknowledge the feedback with understanding, the staff responded with a passive-aggressive remark along the lines of, “Well, jalapeños are spicy,” and implied that paying £25 in total “isn’t that bad.” This dismissive attitude only added to our frustration.
A restaurant experience is about more than the food — it’s also about how staff handle feedback and resolve genuine complaints. In this case, both fell short. We won’t be returning, and we wouldn’t recommend it to others who value customer service and clear menu...
