We have visited the Moon and Sixpence several times and the food has been okay not great just ok, However, this week we went for tea. We all ordered fish and chips. When it arrived the fish was so over cooked that the batter shattered when we cut into it and the tiny piece of fish was dry and rubbery. We called the waitress and explained and she went to sort the situation. When she returned she took the full plates of cold food piled up with dirty serviettes and empty sauce packets away. Two minutes later she returned and placed the dirty plates with rubbish and cold food back in front of us and said they were only replacing the fish. I pointed out that the plates were full of cold food and rubbish and asked to see the manager. When he arrived he was very angry, not with his chef but with us! He snapped at me and said he was going to take it all away and give us a fresh meal, he was talking about us to the waitress and could not understand why we complained. Our food arrived eventually and it was uneatable it tasted recooked and the fish had obviously been warmed up again in oil. It was as hard as the first serving. The so called manager did not revisit the table to see if everything was ok. Probably because he knew it wouldn't be. In this pub the customer is never right and how dare...
Read moreThe worst place we have stayed. After traveling 5 hours on the motorway we did not want this. On arrival we wanted to book in but the person to deal with this was outside talking and I was told to wait . We ordered a sandwich but the price on the internet was £3.00 cheaper and the excuse was that the internet had not been updated. The room was clean but very small and it smelt of damp and the en- suite was really bad as all the silicon around the shower was mouldy the window hinges were rusty and the shelves in the room was sticky . The bed was another issue, the springs were felt all night whilst trying to sleep. My wife ordered at the evening a garlic bread and I ordered a soup. The table was sticky and the menu which was laminated stuck to the table. The garlic bread made my wife sick all night . On my reservation I asked about car parking, the reply was , residents have priority in the car park, this is not the case as I had to wait 20 minutes for a space on the main road. We could not put up with it any longer , so at 5. 30 am we packed up got dressed and did not even stay for breakfast even though we had been charged for it the day before. All in all I would not recommend this establishment unless you are desperate. The room in question is number 3...
Read moreTerrible place. After sitting at a table for 20m we thought we would go to the bar to see why noone had come to take our orders. Staff were moving around us collecting used plates from tables etc. The extremly unfriendly bar man / owner told us it was order at the bar. There was no indication this was the case anywhere. So we took a menu back to our table and then went back to the bar to order. The owner started to take our order on his till but his attitude was absolutely disgusting and unhelpful. It was as tho we were an inconvenience. Locals who were drunk were at the br swearing and acting like village idiots. These were obviously the regulars and pals of the owner. We noticed Daily Mail newspaper clippings on the wall about the road outside. Lostening to what the village idiots were talking about it became clear this was some sort of fwr right watering hole. Hole is a good description as the interior was somewhat bare. It was not a nice family experience. The food was passable but only just. We would never go there again as far better places are available up in Hill Rd for less or the same price. It seems from other reviews that our experience of this dump is the same as many others have had. AVOID THIS DUMP AND ITS OWNER...
