La Multa Old Vine Garnacha
Calatayud. Garnacha (100%) 15%. La multa old vine garnacha is made from 50 year old vines high in the arid hills of calatayud. Generous bright, fleshy fruit with hints of herbs and cloves. Great fruit expression of pure garnacha with a smooth, spicy finish. (Ve)

Do bierzo, mencia (100%). 6 months in new oak barrels. 14%. Intense yet elegant nose where red fruit, strawberry and raspberry sensations dominate, as well as floral and violet notes. In the background, very well integrated vanilla, tobacco and minerals elegant and silky. On the palate it is fresh, with red fruit round soft, silky tannin balanced acidity, freshness and varietal notes dominate in perfect harmony with wood flavours that give the wine complexity. The oak aging is well integrated and very elegant. (Ve)
Tierras De Cair, Reserve
Do ribera del duero. Tempranillo (100%) 75+ year old vines, 2 years ageing in french oak barrels 2012+ a very fine, complex powerful red from the famous ribera del duero denominacion de origen. Seamless aromas of black fruit compot, vanilla, saddle leather and black chocolate flow into a rich, full-bodied, multi-layered palate-broad taste. The complex aromas and flavours continue to develop in the glass. The finish is impressive, and very long, a complete wine with beautiful depth, and good bottle age.

I’ve been coming here for many years, but after a 2 year break I decided to come back alone. Even though I’m a young person covered in dirt, tattoos and piercings, absolutely no service was spared of me. The staff were not only attentive but incredibly friendly and personable. I had earphones in for my meal and they still continued to provide me exactly the service I would’ve received without them. The food & drink was served promptly and was exactly as described. There is no salt and pepper on the table as the food simply does not need it! Everything was perfectly seasoned and left me waiting to book another table. If you’re new to derby or simply haven’t tried Spanish food before (coming from a Spaniard) I would definitely try this restaurant out, it’s not one to miss at all (even if it is a little hidden!)

Visited on Easter Sunday for a birthday celebration. Only found out about the place online the day before. How have we not been here before? This is a little gem of a restaurant. Although fairly small, and quiet when we arrived late afternoon, the restaurant had a nice feel from the moment we arrived. Service was excellent all the way through even as it got busier, and all our questions about the menu were answered by the manager who obviously took great pride in the restaurant. The food was excellent as we shared 5 tapas between 2 of us, which was more than enough, although we were tempted by dessert. The selection of wines was good, and the Spanish beers were interesting and varied. Overall an excellent meal, and good value when taking into account drinks as well. We’ll be back.

My husband and I love Spain. We often visit this country. We were in Lorentes for the first time. We ordered sangries, Iberian ham and cheese board and Paella. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed when we saw that we were served crackers instead of fresh bread and olive oil :( In each Spanish restaurant, guests start with bread and olive oil. As for Paella, it was very simple. No Spanish wines on the menu. The prices are very reasonable, the service is very nice.

We came here for a meal at the new Darley Abbey location of Lorentes.

The restaurant was a lovely atmosphere, with the decor being nice and the staff were really friendly. The drinks were also lovely, with the half jug of red sangria being generous (maybe around 1-1/2 glasses per jug).

However, one of the main issues we had was the portion sizes, and the cost reflecting them. We ordered the chicken skewers, and for Ā£8.50 you only got 1 each, and were tiny (around 2 mouthfuls), which we felt was not ok. Especially as I had gone to the Friar gate branch a few years ago and you got more than double that portion for the same price. Not sure if it’s due to inflation, however I think that needs to be looked at!

We also felt like much of the food was rather ā€œmehā€, in the padron peppers were just peppers fried with salt on the top, which again for the price we felt wasn’t great. Out of the everything we tried, the mushrooms were the most flavourful, but again a small portion.

I don’t think we will be in any rush to return any time soon, purely due to the costs and lack of...

A very intimate, yet bustling tapas and cocktail bar. Good mix of tables, some with chairs, some higher with stools as well as a small bar. The decor is also very well done so as to appear cosy and interesting. The staff were very friendly and attentive despite how busy it was in there.

We tried a lot of dishes and really struggled to decide what we liked best as they were all very good. They also came out of the kitchen without too much wait, yet spaced out enough we could enjoy eating without worrying things were getting cold.I didn't have a cocktail, so can't comment on the selection available.

All in all a very enjoyable evening and definitely recommended. I would suggest booking though as this was very popular, even midweek. We ended up sitting at the bar as no tables were free, but that added to the charm and enjoyment...
